Hi friends. I am on this cross road to select between either University of London or Heriot Watt University. UoL's MSc Financial Sector Management distance learning program being offered by SOAS or HW's distance Learning MBA in Finance being offered by Edinburgh Business School. UoL will cost me GBP 9000 whilst HW will cost me GBP 6300. I would be very happy with the lower cost option but dont wanna miss out on UoL if that is a considerably better option. Would appreciate if the forum could share their thoughts/experiences especially on the quality and accreditation of both the programs.
I would also be very grateful if some other, renowned university, withing the same budget, could be referred by somebody. Kindly help.

I'm considering the MS in Finance offered thru HW-EBS. I'd be interested in feedback/thoughts/warnings about this program. To piggyback on imranhaider's post, any opinions out there?

I haven't compared the required courses but isn't there a distinct difference between a degree in finance and a degree in financial management?

I graduated from the HW MBA program in 2000. Solid course materials and I'm sure you are aware you are on your own the whole way. Never had anyone question me about its validity. At job interviews I sometime get questions about how I was able to study for a Scottish MBA while working in Canada. I just explained that it was distance learning.

Two different programs. An MBA is a general business degree while the M.Sc is a research degree. One is course based and the other one is research based with few courses.

The M.Sc would be better than the MBA if you are looking for a PhD or if you want to teach finance. In the industry, the MBA is more known and more versatile.

I personally would do the M.Sc as I rather do research than taking courses not related to my field but it is a personal preference. The M.Sc is also more prestigious in the financial world but the MBA can help you to move in a different area while the M.Sc is more restrictive.

    Both schools are well regarded.
