    Hi all,

I have almost 80-90 credits on bachelor level, I want to apply for PennFoster bachelor of business program, where I hope most of these would be accepted.

I would like to know, if I complete 120 credits in PennFoster, can I apply those credits into any RA like Big3 to earn a RA Bachelor?

Only Penn Foster courses that are listed on the ACE website as approved can be transferred to the Big 3. Do not take Penn Foster's word for anything. Make sure you personally check the ACE website and also verify the date range on the ACE site as Penn Foster has had a lot of courses expire recently. Most of the computer courses expired last year and are worthless now.

I cannot reiterate that you should double check everything yourself. Penn Foster screwed me over late last year on a class by telling me on the phone it was ACE approved when in reality the ACE approval had expired. I did not check the date range for myself (shame on me - but ACE was a new concept to me) and they essentially stole $300 from me. They wouldn't give a refund and they wouldn't even work with me to give me a discount if I took another class that was ACE approved. Dishonest and bad business.

Can you supply the link that validates your argument?

Yes, make sure each course is ACE reviewed, and on top of that, check to see how much credit ACE assigns each course. Penn Foster may indicate a course is worth 3 credits at their school, but ACE may say it's worth only 1 or 2 credits.

With that being said, all of my Penn Foster credits have transferred in full to Excelsior.

I would also be concerned with the amount of credit that will be transfered from Penn Foster. Assuming that the original 80 credits you plan to transfer to Penn Foster are RA and meet any time limits, that leaves 40 credits from Penn Foster. Posters have mentioned in the past that Excelsior would only accept about 30 DETC credits (I can't remember if that meant DETC/ACE or pure DETC credits).

Thanks for all of you who replied to thread.

Let say PennFoster accepts my 80 credits and rest 40 I complete at PennFoster, so at the end "Transcript" that I will get from PennFoster, would that mention all "PennFoster" credits or it would be "My Previous Credits + PennFoster"?

    Thanks once again.

Which part? The claim that he thinks PF was dishonest or the fact that only ACE courses are accepted at the Big 3? If it is the latter you can verify the ACE approved catalog against what PF currently offers. There is a portion that they have either not pursued ACE approval for or have not been granted.

I know TESC would only accept ACE approved courses as per their catalog and information from the individuals that work there. I am not familiar with the other 2 of the Big 3.

Only ACE reviewed credits can transfer. Check the ACE site and see which ones could qualify. The transcript cannot come from PF but from ACE. You would need to open an ACE account and ask PF to send your transcript to ACE. ACE will let you know which ones can qualify. Once you have an ACE transcript, you can send it to Excelsior for credit transfer.

Most of the PF credits are reviewed as low level credit by ACE so be ready to take a considerable amount of credits to finish an RA degree.

As I suggested before, it would be a lot easier to finish the PF degree and get a graduate certificate or diploma from a RA school and then apply for the MBA. If you try to get the RA BS degree, you will need to take a lot of extra credits to finish it.

The safest way is to get approval by your target institution before taking PF credits. Of course PF will try to sell the courses to you and who can blame them for this, it is up to you to verify with the target institution that the credits will transfer. I don't see PF to blame here.

It may not be a bad idea to consider American Public University or Western Governors since they have both Regional Accreditation and National Accreditation.

I think when PF tells/promises you that a class is ACE approved and it turns out it is not then you better believe PF has some blame there. There are a lot of people starting out that don't fully understand ACE and how it works.

A student's first homework assignment should always be their choice of school.

A week ago, I was discussing with them via online chat in regards to ACE credits:

The concern person gave me this following link :

ACE | ACE CREDIT College and University Network Institutions: M-Z

But I told him, I was specifally intrested the courses that have been evaluated by ACE officially and up to date and replied with this following link:

ACE CREDIT | The National Guide to College Credit for Workforce Training

    Point to remember:

It's totally upon you as individually to know if its ACE credits or not.
