TEKMAN either graduated from it, or will be graduating from it shortly, so he is your best bet for info. I went to Georgetown for undergrad and have nothing but good things to say about the school. I still find myself missing the campus every once inj a while.

ComputerDiva, I assume that you live in the DC area, since the program is not offered via distance, correct?

Yes , I live in the DC area! Born and raised actually! LOL - I just finished undergrad in January and applied to the program. Just waiting for them to receive my final transcript awarding my degree.

Are you doing a graduate program and if so, where? My undergrad is BS in Business - IT Management.

I have narrowed it down to Georgetown's Technology Management program and Capitol College's Information and Telecommunications Systems Management program.

Yes, I am a born and raised Washingtonian. I like in Maryland now though...

I narrowed it down to G'Town's Technology Program or Capital College's Information and Telecommunications Systems Management program.

Georgetown is a great school. I just want to see what the admission was like for the School of continuing studies.

    ComputerDiva,

Do you have particular question about the program at Georgetown University? I completed all the courses as of December 2011; however, my capstone was rejected. My professor stated that some part of my capstone was not in-depth; therefore, she recommended me to modify to turn it in prior commencement in this May 2012 (only one commencement ceremony per year). During the fall semester, I got married; and I could not concentrated on school due to marriage problem. I completed my capstone; however, was not satisfied my professor.

There are Pro's and Con's for the program at Georgetown University. All the courses are taught by part-time professors, who do not have Doctorate degree. The only thing that they have extensive experiences from their professional career. I think that is the reason why the program is designated as Master of Professional Studies over Master of Science.

    Pro:
    - Brand name (Georgetown University)
    - Local campus networking and flexible schedule
    - Most students are full-time professional to share the experiences with
    - Most of the courses have no exam (I love this because my program at SMU mainly based on examination)
    - Mainly research papers, group project, and live presentation (I love this)

    Con:
    - Price tag is quite expensive than Capitol College
    - Master of Professional over Master of Science

Actually, I was looking for the name and VA benefits. I did not attend Georgetown University because of the program because I earned a Master of Science degree at Southern Methodist University.

If you have any question, you can check out this site: Georgetown University Technology Management Master's Degree Program | Facebook

    - Also, you can attend one of their program sessions. You'll receive some free gift and free food.

Thank you for your input. How long was your Capstone? Not in-depth enough? WOW..... It looks like it has more pros than cons.

I would not recommend the MPS program if you are heading for an MBA at Georgetown University. Because of the MBA program is expensive, you should not spend $30,000.00 for MPS and continue for MBA.

Tekman, would the MPS program at Georgetown fulfill a master's requirement in a Comp uter Science or Technology-related PhD program? It looks like you applied to a PhD program after your MPS program. I may look to do something similar. I currently have only a bachelors degree in Business.
