Does anyone know of any schools that offer these online? I figured there would be many science education programs since education is one of the staples of the online degree diet, but I haven't found any.

Also, a co-worker of mine told me that he thought there were doctorate offered through distance learning in the sciences, such as environmental science, etc.

    Any help would be appreciated.

A degreeinfo member is, or was, studying for such a degree via DL. I did a search but came up blank. Maybe others can recall the member/thread from several years ago.

The state of Montana has a Doctorate of Science program through the Center of Learning & Teaching---www.cltw.org

Does anyone know about this CLTW program? I tried looking at the site, but it doesn't seem to offer any info on actual degree programs. Seems like a bunch of "let's make teachers better and save the children" stuff.

Do a search for forum posts by degreeinfo member: nobycane He seems to have gotten pretty far in the program and describes how it works, etc. You may have to read through a number of posts to get the complete picture, but it should lead you to the information you are seeking.

Thanks everyone. Also, just FYI, I contacted the CLTW people and they said that the PhD is no longer offered.

The University of Kentucky doctoral program is a hybrid program that requires face-to-face sessions.

For a non-USA doctorate I like one from from James Cook University in astronomy.
It has a path of certificate - masters - Doctor of Astronomy - Ph.D.
Astronomy Online Coursework Degrees - JCU

A former member of degreeinfo earned the masters degree.

Perhaps so as I didn't make a personal inquiry with the university; however, merely per the UK website: Distance Learning Programs | Programs

"Programs are delivered through a hybrid model (i.e., face-to-face class sessions, online synchronous class meetings, asynchronous learning activities, fieldwork, independent reading and writing) or completely online. Thus, all students must have regular access to and use of information technology."
