If adopting a global currency meant that you would retain the value of your money in your bank account, then would you accept it?

For what it's worth, as a libertarian, I don't think the "FEMA death camp" thing is representative of the beliefs of most libertarians. I think this is more often a Patriot movement thing. There's overlap, but less than one might think considering how anti-government both movements are.

I think you hit the nail on the head. This quote from the link you posted sticks out in my mind:

" It centers on a view that individual liberties are in jeopardy due to unconstitutional actions taken by elected government officials, appointed bureaucrats, and some special interest groups outside of government, to illegally accumulate power."

Here is what I recall from the conversation. things such as: "One day, the government, police and military forces will be under the spell of the President and his will. Common citizens will assemble in protest. They will be seen anti-government types at first, but history will later show them to be patriots." Then, the conversation turned toward gay marriage, and how that would then devolve marriage into groups that like boys, groups that want bestial marriages, etc. At that point I decided it would be better for me to go watch the kids and lady folk open their presents. I didn't want to ruin a special day. All I could say was "That interesting."

    Take it easy,

As a libertarian, that much I think really is happening. But I don't see it so much as a conspiracy as I do simply the nature of the state to expand. And as you noted, the Patriot types quickly branch off into unrelated issues of social conservatism that they honestly believe is an important part of the problem but which I think is neither objectionable nor relevant.

You mean if a smaller bureaucratic system outside the sphere of my influence fails me would I trust an even bigger bureaucratic system outside the sphere of my influence? No thanks.

Exactly. Every man should follow his own path, and render judgement for himself. I am turned off by those that will try to intertwine religion with politics. Don't tell me you you are pro-establishment, when a once living man liike Jesus Christ was anti-establishment. Don't shift the paradigm to suit your needs. I am alluding to your quote "unrelated issues of social conservatism that they honestly believe is an important part of the problem but which I think is neither objectionable nor relevant.[/QUOTE]

I thank you for reading my post and for your comments.

The Euro was supposed to do that. We already have one government ruining our economy, how is a whole bunch more going to fix it?

Global dominance and control is best achieved by controlling the monetary system. A one-world economic system will eventually be implemented to achieve this control. The Euro, the dollar and all other sovereign currencies will eventually be replaced by a one world economic system that will probably be based on an electronic system; the current credit and debit infrastructure will probably form the basis of it.

They're crazy. The US clearly has never put people in internment camps. Anyone who believes that needs to be locked up.

FEMA death camps is definitely a Patriot Movement / John Birch Society / Alex Jones Prison Planet sort of thing, with Glenn Beck flirting with it to stoke ratings.

As with most things, there is actually a bit of truth here and there. Yes, there are plans to round people up into camps. In the event of a major nuclear war and collapse of society, to facilitate (a) population survival and (b) population control in order to (c) restore governmental power. Because as we all know, letting people run amok in fallout-land is a recipe for making mutant cannibal zombies.

There are also plans to quarantine people up in the event of a major bio-terror outbreak, which explains the "coffins" and "incinerators" -- basic public health safety precautions, really. Think 1918 flu, only with SARS or Swine Flu or Ebola or worse. And of course there are plans for the DoD to supplement in the event of either of the above, because all local and state agencies would be overwhelmed immediately.

This is really all just common sense planning ahead for unthinkable disasters. If the government didn't do this planning it would be rightly called inept and useless. But when it does to the planning, it is (wrongly) painted as preparing for the Fourth Reich. Yesterday it was Bushitler, today it is Obamanation, tomorrow it may be the Ron Paul Reich.

The fact that my wife and I drove by a sign that said "Citizen Collection Station" in a rural town in Texas, at an old sports stadium surrounded by chain link fence, doesn't help public perception. Though a quick Google search reassured me that this is the term used in Texas for citizens to turn in hazardous materials like oil.

Or to turn in each other for incineration. :shhh:

If they did that I can see massive dissent. At the very least a healthy barter system will be created.

Your simplistic respose is amusing. Or perhaps it is tongue in cheek? I am very well aware of some of the barbaric episodes that took place in this country. I do become suspicious when certain "patriots" give a sense of urgency to events that may occur as early as next year. Gee, I wonder why?
