    SurfDoctor,

I am unsure if you are assuming that NU credits are accepted for transfer for LU credit . This is not the case in that LU will allow a NU BRS graduate entry to the seminary as a probationary student only. There is no allowance for transfer credit to Liberty University from NationsUniversity. I wanted to clarify this just in case other readers become misinformed.

Yes, you are right; I stand corrected. I don't actually know, nor do I have any vested interest in the issue. That was just a conversational remark based on what Steve said, and now that I read his post more carefully, I can see that I was totally wrong about what he was implying. Thanks for setting things straight.

Fair enough. I was more responding to what I perceived as your saying NU isn't the academic equal of accredited programs. Many people think of accreditation as a process that's concerned solely with academic quality, but it also is concerned with finances, and I expect that's the only thing that's tripped NU up so far. Anyway, I'll power down the phasers now. :)

I understand and agree with those who argue that an RA degree offers more utility. I'm not trying to promote Veritas. The only reason I suggest it is the fact that some of the greatest apologetic minds in the country teach at that school. If someone wanted to move to a degree beyond a Veritas degree, they probably should avoid it, because it will probably never be RA. I, however, am interested in it for myself someday just for the quality of the study, not for its accreditation status. Especially in this subject matter, there are some considerations that are not affected by accreditation and personal advancement, although there is nothing wrong with either.

Have you considered Nations University? I've considered serving them as faculty at some point in the future and had some discussions with them to that effect. Great program, almost free, and currently seeking DETC accreditation which I think they will get.

Their Bachelor programs are so solid that I know people who have go e on to be accepted into Liberty's M.A. / M.Div. programs and done well I've perused courses (they use Moodle) online, a d I have earned all of my degrees (BS, MA, MDiv, DMin) primarily online with acreddted schools, Liberty /Tennesee Temple, and I recommend Nations without reservation.

PM me or email me through my website (Chris Surber) and I will glad to discuss further. I have offered advice to several online seminary students over the years and I am recommended Nations often now.

I did not realize that Google would do that. But you can use google search operators to maximize your search for these online schools of theology. Google Search Operators - Google Guide check this link for that

At liberty you can study philosophy / apologetics with Gary Habermas, as I did; an equally great apologetic mind. :cool2:

And if you start with nations u then do an MA with Liberty you can do for 1/3-1/4 the cost...

If you get an accredited SA degree you can have it for about $5000 for the entire degree.

Point. I'll give up trying to support Veritas here. I suppose I may be partial because I know some of the professors personally and would be honored to study under them.

Liberty is a great choice. I am enjoying it tremendously.

I'm now looking at Luther Rice Seminary, but I'll start a thread about it, because no one will see this "new subject" way down here on this general thread.

Really?? I'm very interested! I though I heard a prior poster state you can't transfer in NU credits to Liberty?

You can apply to a graduate program with a degree from Nations but I don't think you'll be able to transfer credits.

You are correct Liberty University will not award transfer credit from unaccredited schools. However, Liberty University will consider admitting you, to the seminary, on probationary status on the grounds of the BRS degree from NationsUniversity. After one semester, if you have passing grades, you will be granted full admission status.

It is my understanding that this probationary route only applies to the seminary. So you would not be admitted to any other graduate level program at LU with an unaccredited degree.

Actually, LU can be even cheaper! I am taking 15 credit hours a semester (granted, a pretty full plate) and paying a block rate of 2350.00 which comes out to 156.66/CH The block rate is for 9-15 hours. And yes, it is RA.

    Somewhat expert opinion/advice

    Hello,
I am personally friends with Dr. Norman Geisler, as well as Dr. Paul Copan, Dr. Winfried Corduan, Dr. Groothuis, and many, many other professional theologians and apologists, and I also have a TRACS accredited Masters degree, and it was a GREAT education. If you are not looking to teach professionally then it does not matter whether or not your degree is regionally accredited, and even if you do want to teach then schools like Liberty, Gordon Conwell, and MANY other schools WILL accept TRACS accredited degrees anyway. Personally I do think though that there is a benefit to getting a graduate degree from a fully accredited university, which is why I am currently working on an MS and a doctorate in bioethics (medical ethics) at Albany (NY) Medical College. And for the record, There are a number of GREAT schools that are fully accredited, like Liberty and Columbia Evangelical Seminary, that offer a number of options for Christian oriented Masters degrees.

The last sentence is mistaken. "Columbia Evangelical Seminary is not Accredited," says Columbia Evangelical Seminary itself.

Welcome to the board! I, and I'm sure others, would be interested in hearing about the AMC program.

While an RA will help the accreditation that really matters in theological academic circles is ATS. If one wants to teach at a major seminary or university, this is what is usually required. ABHE may open doors on some levels for Bible Colleges and undergrad schools (TRACS may limit you here also). If one is not looking for an academic career but serving in ministry then RA, ABHE, or TRACS wlll mostly likely suffice. An exception may be in some mainline denominations who would probably prefer ATS.

Are there any other accredited colleges and universities that will accept transfer credits from Nations University? I am asking for my husband. He is not interested in Liberty.
