Which is by reputation the best DBA online program between Liverpool.vs.Argosy.vs.Walden.vs.Capella

Well, none of these schools are accredited by AACSB. Therefore, the one with campus based would be best. Agrosy and Walden are ACBSP accredited...therefore, leaving with Capella alone and University of Liverpool. If you feel confidence with school outside of the US, then University of Liverpool is a good choice.

I don't mean to disrespect the others, because I know a perfectly good experience can be had through any of them. Well, Walden and Capella at least -- I've heard some bad reports from Argosy students.

But Liverpool is by far the best regarded, even in the U.S. It's a world class university that's been around for 130 years.

Any thoughts on California Intercontinental University? The tuition is very reasonable and they offer a 25% tuition discount for Veterans of the Armed Forces. DBA cost about $15000 with discount.

I have no experience with California InterContinental University; however, the school is DETC accredited and relatively new. If you're looking for DETC program, check out Columbia Southern University's DBA; The school and program have been for awhile; and I have never heard of any negative about the school.

May I know Argosy has been accredited by ACBSP... I think Argosy is a Candidacy only. Is argosy has been accredited recently?

What are your goals with a DBA? That may help answer the question. At the doctoral level, your either AACSB accredited or your not...IMHO.

You're right, Argosy is still candidacy by ACBSP. Northcentral University is accredited.

So why not consummate the relationship?

Yes - AACSB or your not - Nova Southeastern is getting close

I'd like to remind folks that if you're looking for a part-time DBA with flexibility, Nova Southeastern remains the best bet to achieve AACSB accreditation in the near term.

A DBA has two main uses, it can help you to become an academic or get you into high level consulting. Top consulting firms are not going to consider a DBA from a DETC school an advantage and you cannot use it to teach. So why you would want it besides self improvement and continuing education?

$15000 is too much if you consider that it cannot be used in places where the DBA is required.

It depends on the reason for you to get the DBA. If your goal is to become an adjunct, I think any of the 4 options would work. If your goal is to become a full time academic, the DBA of the University of Liverpool might be seen better only because is from a credible school but some people have been able to land full time academic jobs with Capella, Argosy and Walden degrees.
The University of Liverpool is not AACSB accredited but it is the only school from the four that might stand a good change of getting it in the near future.

My ranking list would be from the 4 listed:
    1. University of Liverpool
    2. Walden
    3. Capella
    4. Argosy

This is the same conclusion I came to when I was looking at a doctorate from Aspen. The program looked great and the price was under $10K, but the fact that it was DETC made the utility of it fairly low. I decided that even that low price was too much to pay for a degree that would not open many doors. This is not to knock the quality; just other people's unfair perception of DETC.

It is too bad that you did not profit from the strong US dollar back in 2000. Few people in this forum profited from the DBA from Charles Sturt University in Australia for $10K. Australian schools increased tuition fees almost double during the last 10 years and the Australian dollar is stronger than the US dollar so it is not longer an option.

The only cheap option appears to be the South African degree but some people worry about credibility. The SA degree might work for adjunct work but might be a hard sell for high level consulting or full time academic work.

I think professional certifications are cheaper and better options for people looking for consulting positions. A CFA or CPA is worth a lot more in a resume than a DBA from a DETC school. It might be even the same for adjunct work, an MBA with CPA or CFA might be able to land more adjunct work than a person with a DBA from a low tier online school. The issue is that a CFA appears to be more difficult to get than many of these online doctoral programs.

I disagree, I believe it has many more uses! The DBA certainly has some attraction to me as a healthcare professional. I already have 2 non business masters degrees why not earn a DBA instead of an MBA? Secondly, they offer an emphasis in Healthcare management. $15000 is a small price to pay if I move up the healthcare administration track as a CNO, CEO or COO of a hospital.

I think the real argument is whether or not a DETC degree is as valuable as a RA degree?
My belief is that they pretty much hold the same weight in most circles except academia. In the healthcare industry, employers and patients look at results and outcomes. Yes, you have to have an accredited degree to be there in the first place but "where the rubber hits the road" is weighed more heavily than where one got his/her degree!

Along those lines. AIMS Research (founded by the illustrious Dr. Dave Lady) is offering this:

The university is also offering an incredible incentive for their Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program. For the same limited time, if you join AIMS as a premium member, before you sign up for the program, the tuition is only $357 dollars a month. The DBA can be completed in as little as 27 months, which means a person can earn a Doctor of Business Administration degree for under $10,000 tuition, an incredibly low cost. This means by joining AIMS first it’s an added savings of 15% off the standard program tuition.

see link: W. Edwards Deming School of Business

The DBA would be from William Howard Taft University (DETC).

    Gotta run,

    Abner
