Could someone tell me if there are other programs beside Excelsior which will accept grad credits that are old (ten years.) Looking for an MA in the humanities.

    Thanks,

Hi. Been lurking here for a few years, and joined (just now) so that I could respond to this thread.

I graduated from Indiana Wesleyan in 2009 with a B.S. in Business Information Systems (online). I do *NOT* feel as though I attended a diploma mill. I also am under the impression that IWU is a pretty well-regarded school. (I don't live in IN, though, so I don't know about its local reputation.)

As far as the classes go, the workload was challenging. When I started the program, I worked a full-time, plus a part-time job and it was really rough. By the time the end rolled around, I had quit the part-time job. Hopefully, you won't have to decide how many classes to take at a time. The way the program worked (back then, anyway) was that you took one class after another. I did overlap a couple to squeeze in some electives. That was a mistake!

I enjoyed the program immensely, but was glad when it was over!

Good luck, and feel free to ask more questions.

Thanks so much Hope! Glad to hear of some real experience with them. I just received my registered courses today and they pretty much do everything for you. I have all of my classes mapped out, one after the other from now until I receive my Associate's in February of 2014. In addition, they are mailing me all of my textbooks before the start of my first class next week. Thankfully I no longer have my part-time job, just my normal day job and two kiddos. But I do have a wonderful husband who is already planning to take care of the laundry, dishes and running the kids back and forth to school while I am taking classes. I'm glad to hear that the workload is challenging and not some easy to pass degree. I want to know that I earned it.

    Aubrav,

I know you're getting ready to start classes at IWU but you may want to contact Indiana Tech and consider applying to them as well. Indiana Tech will accept up to 30 semester hours from non-regionally accredited schools toward an associate's degree and up to 60 non-RA credits toward a bachelor's degree program. They offer 5-week online courses as well as independent study courses and have several extension sites around Indiana as well. My wife used the Indiana state education grant at Indiana Tech a couple years ago for in-seat classes and eventually transferred her credits to Thomas Edison State College and graduated with a B.S.B.A. degree.

Indiana Tech offers several degree programs and since they will accept previously earned credits from a non-regionally accredited school you may be able to cut down on your degree completion timeframe.

Hey Guys, I just found this thread when searching for programs for my Bachelor's. I am just 3 weeks away from completing my associate's at IWU now. I have been very pleased with the coursework and the challenge. Now it's time for me to figure out if I want to continue with IWU for my bachelor's (thinking either marketing or human resources) or if I want to see if a school exists at all that would accept some of my credits from IWU and my previous nationally accredited degree.

First off, congratulations on finishing your associate degree! You might want to consider looking into Indiana Tech as they will accept up to a maximum of 60 semester hours of credit from non-regionally accredited schools toward a bachelor's degree. They recently opened a location in Jeffersonville, IN about 6 miles from the IU Southeast campus and they also have a location in Louisville, KY as well. You would be able to complete a BSBA with a concentration in HR or Marketing so if you are looking to apply the maximum amount of credits from your non-regionally accredited coursework Indiana Tech may be the way to go.

Take a look at pgs. 45-46 in the Indiana Tech catalog at the following link for more details:

Maybe I'm missing the question here but IWU is RA. As faculty for both, I'd recommend IWU over LU if you've already started at IWU. One is cohort based (IWU) while the other is not (LU) if that makes a difference to you.

I got my Bachelors in Human Resources from Indiana Tech, I enjoyed it. Now I'm trying to find a place to get my MBA...suggestions are welcomed.

Again, some really helpful info, thanks so much! I have already requested info from Indiana Tech as well as GCU and will take a look at the link provided. I was talking to my boss the other day about the degree options and how they relate to jobs within the company. It seems the positions that do interest me fall under Communications and not Marketing. Unfortunately IWU does not have a Communications degree, just the Marketing degree. So now more searching. I will say that I really enjoyed attending a Christian school and would like to find that again if possible.

All of you have been extremely helpful and I am still accepting any advice :)

Does anyone know enough to compare Huntington University in Indiana to Indiana Wesleyan University?
