    Hello,
    Like many other on this forum I am trying to get in to an inexpensive masters degree;
    I am aware of Graduate Education Educational Partners that offers a series of 3 credit hour classes for 230$ each though Page Not Found I would like to know if there are any other similar options?
    Also what is the most generous institution in terms of credit transfer. An MLS will work for me.
    Thank you much,
    Pilot

    Yes, there is. PBS Teacherline is almost exactly the same thing. The courses themselves are free, but you can pay certain colleges to put them on a transcript as graduate credit Welcome : PBS TeacherLine.

    Most generous for credit transfer... Excelsior and APU will accept up to 15 credits. Amberton University will accept up to 12, but is less expensive than the others. Amberton has a Master of Arts in Professional Development which is pretty much a liberal studies degree, but with a nicer sounding name.

    Since you are thinking about the education courses from VESI (and maybe PBS), you might want to look at the M.Ed from Eastern New Mexico University. If memory serves (and it really might not, so you should check it out :smile:) they accept 9 credits in transfer and have the least expensive RA graduate tuition to be found out there.

    If a NA degree with work for you, Ashworth College will accept up to 75 percent of the credits needed for a MS in Management from other colleges and universities. For a 36-credit program, that is 27 credits they will take in transfer. It is the most generous transfer policy I have ever seen for a graduate degree program.

    I doubt this is correct, or there is some slant to it that is not clear. In DETC land the rule is 50% at the graduate level and 75% at the undergraduate level for maximum allowable transfer credit. I have had them crawl all over me for following rules in their book that exist but that they don’t like, I doubt they would approve a school going all the way outside of their guidelines. Further, Ashworth is a successful school with a lot of students; I doubt they would risk this for whatever incremental gain it would give them.

    Does anyone have a link?

    From page 160 of the Ashworth College Catalog:

    It appears Ashworth's MS in Management requires 36 credit hours, so that would be the 50% rule.

    I was going by the information Ashworth states on its web site:

    Transfer Credits

    You can save even more time and money by transferring credits in two ways:

    * Receive academic credit for up to 75% of your degree program from a previous college or university.
    * Receive work and life experience credit for what you already know.

    It is stated on this page: Master's Degree in Management Tuition - Ashworth College

    There courses are not free prices range from about $125.00 to $395.00 per course. Then you have to pay additional money to launder the credits through. The cheapest I found was $79.00 per credit through adams. So you could essentially complete a 2 credit grad course for under $600.00. That is not too bad. I am looking into this. It would be nice if they offered the courses for free and you just paid the transcription fee but that would be in perfect world :)

    Hello, This is a huge dilemma at our house right now so ideas, foreign or US would be greatly appreciated. Foreign schools have to have total credibility. Thanks. Hille

    Hello,
    Thanks for all the answers;
    It looks like Vesi is the best option Graduate Education Educational Partners
    at $230 for 3 graduate credits I read somewhere that these can be done In 2 to 3 weeks; is that correct? I checked the syllabus Morningside College Online Continuing Education Courses for Teachers - Distance Learning for Teachers - Professional Development for Teachers and it does not look like it; I'd love to hear from people who actually took the courses. Also, will it cost me anything to "launder" those credit hours or can they be transfered as is?
    Also I called Amberton University and they will accept up to 12 credits which is not too bad considering that they charge 700 per graduate course. Overall it seems to be the most cost effective option...I might be wrong. If you know of a better option please let me know.
    Last but not least; I would like to hear from current or former students of Amberton U; Can you please share your experiences..
    Thank you so much,
    Pilot

    As far as I know there is not a fee to launder the credits. I would call the young ladies at VESI and they would be able to address all of your questions.

    I called Amberton U and it seems to fit the bill on many fronts...
    I would love to hear from current and/or former students of Amberton U before I sign up;
    I've been procrastinating for the longest time and it would really help me make up my mind..
    Thank you very much,
    Pilot

    Boy do I love this thread. If I ever veer off course and ncu and end up in the washout thread I will consider taking some of these grad courses and getting an MS in professional or liberal studies with a la carte credits.
