Changing programs doesn't have to be viewed as a "bad" thing! Deciding on what you want to earn your degree in is hard! In fact, even AFTER you decide, it can sometimes still be hard wondering if you made the right decision. What it comes down to is your interests, and what feels right. From what you've said in your post, it seems as though you've taken a lot of time thinking about this and trying different things. It all goes back to that old saying to "go with your gut", which seems like you're reverting back to. Congrats on your decision! Does it really matter how much money you're going to make if you enjoy what you're doing? It's all about being fulfilled in your career, and that doesn't always have to do with monetary gain!

If you want to work with criminals, you should teach in the public schools.

When I was studying for my certification exam as a paralegal, my study buddy was a working paralegal with a masters in library science. Even though she loved books she was bored to tears and unhappy working in a library. She did not allow herself to be pigeonholed into a job that she didn't want simply because she had a degree in that field. Sometimes I think those that want to pigeonhole others have been pigeonholed themselves. Are you listening human resource people?
