I have been on the prowl for attractive frames for my diplomas as I set-up my new home office.

My wife's frame for her BA from the University of Delaware has a picture of one of the campus buildings on it. I want to get a similar one for her MA from William and Mary.

I had an initial negative reaction to the frames with campus photos in them. But then I reconsidered. I think there would be an amusing irony in having my diploma framed along with a photo of a campus on which I have never set foot!

If it is an online school, I guess you could take a photo of your desk/laptop and frame it with your diploma. :stooges:

My wife ended up finding me an oak diploma frame at a thrift store for $3.95
The frame was in good shape, so I used it to frame by B&M community college associates degree. 0220111001.jpg

Sweet frame! I would enjoy it all the more knowing that I got it for almost nothing.

The framed certificates look great and all, but I have this nagging question: Do you remove your certificates from the frame each time you go for interviews, only to put them back in when you return?

    Why would you do this?

If I ever need proof of my education, I have copies of transcripts.

I also maintained scanned copies of my diplomas, and have only been asked for proof of my education once, which was... a scan of my diplomas.

Probably it only happens at this part of the world where they always liked to see your original diplomas.

I had to provide a xerox copy of my diploma before I could be officially hired into my position.

When I applied for my work visa in Japan, they made me send in my original diploma, even after getting sealed transcripts from the university. Found that to be pretty odd (after living 6 years over there, that was the least of it.) A friend of mine had a diploma from the US, but it was in Latin. They made him provide (at extra cost) a Japanese translation.

IERF when they were evaluating my Heriot-Watt MBA, also wanted to see the original diploma. I think I was their very first Heriot-Watt evaluation though. WES, which has done many in the past, did not.

I applied for a government job in 2008 that required a copy of the diploma in addition to transcripts.

I don't think I will send my original diplomas anywhere via post. Won't know if it just decides to get lost in transit.

By the way, I always liked my certificates to be A4 size. Our Heriot-Watt MBA scroll was larger and hence I could only file it after getting a file with larger pockets.

I have my diploma and all of my certificates scanned into my personal email so I can produce copies no matter where I am, I also have them backed up on a thumb drive, with the originals hanging from the wall in my home office. I have all military discharge documents filed with the county, and I might do the same with diploma/ certificates.

The email thing is a great idea.

I'm very surprised to hear anyone wanting to see a diploma - a document easily 'manufactured.' My experience has always been that transcripts, sent directly from the institution, are required when applying to schools.

Further, my education was required for membership in a professional body, of which I carry a membership card. I guess that could be a difference, and would be the required document in a job application in my profession (different from school applications).

But I am really surprised to hear of people wanting to see a diploma.
I guess we do learn something everyday. ;)
