Hello all! I am looking to compile a list of schools that offer tuition reimbursement. I know Ashford offers tuition reimbursement and allows you to start a course and defers payment up to 90 days after start date.

    Perfect.

However, the fees are outrageous! Like $1200 technology fee!

Any other schools that offer such programs?

Tuition reimbursement is based on your employer's discretion. The school does not care who pays for the tuition. Usually, employers make employees to pay up front for their classes; then get reimburse once the he or she receives the grades. Except the Military, I used my tuition assistance at Troy University from the Department of Defense while I was on active duty. I did not pay up front; however, only $4,500.00 per year...if I went over it the limit...the rest must be out of my pocket.

Before selecting the institution, ensure to consult with your HR to see which school is acceptable. Mostly, any regional accredited schools; however, recently there was a member in this forum was denied for Argosy University, but was approved for Capella University.

I believe what the OP is referring to is tuition deferment (however, some schools do refer to this type of program as tuition reimbursement). Tuition deferment is a program that many colleges/universities offer to students who either utilize VA tuition benefits or receive tuition reimbursement from their employer that is contingent on obtaining a minimum grade for each course. Usually a credit card is required as a back-up measure, in case the student does not get reimbursed in time (or at all) for a course, or semester of courses.

The key is to find a school that will give you enough time after the semester/quarter has ended to receive your grades, submit them to your employer, get your reimbursement check and pay the bill before it's past due (and your credit card is charged). For example, the University of Phoenix offers tuition deferment, however, one only has 60 days from each course start date to pay their bill before their card is charged. Considering that most U of P courses are 5-6 weeks long, this is hardly enough time to receive a reimbursement check from your employer (at least it's not the case with mine).

Off the top of my head, I've compiled a short list of schools (with DL programs) that offer this service (the fees vary (some do not charge any fees for this service), but it's usually not more than $50 a term.

    Bellevue University
    Drexel University
    Nova Southeastern University
    Regent University
University of Phoenix (see note, above)

For the above list, I've linked to each school's tuition deferment policy.

Tom - that is exactly what I meant. Sorry for my confusion with the incorrect terminology. I am indeed looking for tuition deferment. I really like the Ashford programs but the price (especially the outrageous fees) is prohibitive. Thanks for your input!

Does anyone else know of schools with tuition deferment?

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but Sallie Mae has a tuition payment plan service with many participating schools. For a $30 fee you can spread your payments throughout the semester rather than lump sum at the beginning. Depending on any credit card interests you have, the $30 may be better or worse, but you should do the math first. Anyways, this is what I use when I can't cover the tuition upfront and I do not want to take out loans or use a credit card.

    Good luck!
