CONGRATS to all of the folks who got admitted. If my math is correct, we now have 4 or 5 members of this forum who were admitted this year. GREAT JOB!! How did all of you find out about the program? Was it from this forum?

Please continue to participate in the forum. I am sure that I am not alone in wanting to hear about your journey towards receiving the DPA.

Also, a special thanks goes out to truckie270. A lot of times we take forums like this for granted and think that what is written here doesn't matter. But your posts about your experience will Valdosta State's DPA program undoubtedly motivated some people to apply, and as a result, may have changed their lives for the better. Of course, the heavy lifting of finishing the program is on their shoulders, but we should not dismiss the impact that you and this forum had on lighting that spark.

I got my thanks, but no thanks letter today. Of those accepted, I wish you well in your journey. I will be enrolling into my second choice; Indiana Tech's PhD in leadership. So, us doctoral students can still come here and post about the agonizing, uphill doctoral climb.

    Again, good luck to all..........

I agree, best of luck to all the new candidates, either at Valdosta or somewhere else!

By my count, I have talked to and provided information to at least a dozen people who are now in various stages of the program since I started in the first cohort group. I should get a commission!

Good luck to all in the new group. As I noted, please send me a PM if you would like additional information. To those who did not get accepted, good luck to you as well - I am sure you will find a program that works for you.

I didn't get in here but I got in at the University of Florida! I guess I won't be doing an online doctoral program. Congrats to all who were accepted and I wish you the best. See you at the top!

I thought I would bump this thread to the top again since it is time for applications again.

Good luck to everyone who's applying for this round. I just found out that I was accepted in the first round for a PhD at Georgia State University (after having been rejected from Valdosta State last year)...so I guess the DPA program is really competitive! I'll be attending GSU instead, but good luck to everyone!

This thread is dead quiet compared to this time last year! I withdrew my application (even though I was curious to see if I'd be accepted this year after being rejected last year). Good luck to any on the board who are applying this round!

Definitely quieter than this time last year! I applied for Fall 2012, anyone else?

Good luck! If VSU is on the same schedule as last year you should hear back in the next week or so.

I have applied for Fall 2012 and I spoke with someone in admissions last week and they said it takes 4-6 weeks for a decision. I guess they are waiting until 6 weeks for sure. It's ridiculous that the wait is this long.

Why is it ridiculous? They have hundreds of applicants and a small staff to wade through them in addition to all of the regular duties that must get accomplished at the end of the academic year. Patience.

It seems Valdosta State University's DPA and Dakota State University's DSc programs become really competitive in term of admission not because of top reputation instead cost-effective.

Not yet. Am hopeful but know it is very competitive. I am in-state, I wonder if they have any target numbers of in-state vs out-of-state and what percentage of applications are from each group.
