This made me lol out loud.

Just remember to correctly type in your PIN number (personal identification number number) into the ATM machine

Yes, tailor your resume for the job... Good advice.

But what are you talking about with this comment, "from internet-only schools could raise more issues and questions than help you?" Are you suggesting that HR people are insufficiently trained to understand the pedagogy and utility of distance learning?

Just list all your degrees under the name, "Trident University International."

Guys, it doesn't really matter what name they choose, as long as it can be trademarked in a defensible way and doesn't mean something nasty or dumb in a foreign language, and if they can get the Internet domain for it. What really matters is how they develop the brand identity and what resources they apply to creating brand awareness. Been there. Done that, many times... In sum, "Trident" will work fine... :)

I would think that it would be more of an bias issue than a training issue.

What is the bias issue to which you are referring?

Bias against non-traditional and/or online degrees.

 Or, in my current line of work: "What's the VIN number?"
Me: "You mean the Vehicle Identification Number number?"

Both names could take a back seat. However, The University of Neptune's Mighty Trident would be OK. It would work well too, since many of their students are seafaring military... and it doesn't necessarily make one think of chewing gum.

Exactly. In fact, my only concern is that using the name "Trident" makes this a decidedly masculine brand, with little room to position it otherwise. The trident of Poseidon / Neptune is a phallic symbol, as are the Trident missile and the "Trident" submarine by extension. Clearly, this is a brand that could be developed well with military and business themes; however, these also domains of white male power. I would think it will be challenging to incorporate themes of gender and ethnic diversity. For example, "Trident" isn't really the name you would use for a Vietnamese-run day spa and nail salon. :)

A decidedly masculine brand/image, to me, a woman, is much more attractive than a wimpy sounding, supposed word of a foreign language that I am not even familar with.... I stilll prefer Trident over too-hee..... I wouldn't worry too much about it sounding too masculine or about it perpetrating the <ahem> "symbols" of the bastions of white male power..... ;-) And that's all I have to say about that point, pardon the pun.

Beyond that, I get a little tired of everything trying to be everything to everyone. What is wrong with developing and branding an institution to make it unique and then let those who appreciate its unique qualities gravitate toward it?
