Awesome. Imagine this scenario: a practitioner earns a Ph.D. in order to advance his/her practice, yet takes a second doctorate (not a Ph.D.) to develop his/her scholarship/research skills. Same purpose, opposite degrees. Go figure.

One is enough for me, which I don't know between Nova, ColState, and Leciester. Instead two Doctorate degrees, I would spend more time on research for peer review literature.

Mr. Heiks, Sir! Let me help you with spending your money if you believe in the Mayan calendar. Also, if that is the case...then your student loans will be forgiven.

Used to be a doctorate. Now, I'm pretty content with my masters. I have the job I want. The advantage of a doctorate is too slim (roughly $5000/year in salary) to justify spending the time and money to get one. I'll just have to accept being tied with my mother for being the least educated in my family (wife, brother, sister-in-law, father - doctorates. Mom and myself - masters). Although I guess my 3-year still hasn't graduated from anything.

Personally I think it's absurd but it will be interesting to see what all the wackos do.

Thanks RAM. Earning professional and research doctorates make sense to me. It's getting two doctorates that are professional or research (both the same orientation to be specific) is what I was wondering about.

    Thanks -

Would you think I would be wrong if I were to some day attempt to get both a PhD in History and a PhD in Business?

    Ted,

Years ago, a philosophy professor told me that once you earn a PhD, you can do anything. What I understood from this was that you can teach yourself anything because you already developed research skills. If you develop research skills in History, let's say, why not apply those same skills to learn business administration on your own? The research process is essentially the same no matter the discipline.

The cost of three PhD programs has got to be a chunk of change. Unless you're getting some type of scholarship, employer reimbursement, or GI Bill, how are you chasing the funding to pay tuition X 3?
