Are there anyone here enrolled at UIS for the Master program in Computer Science? I'm thinking about enrolling there.

I can tell you of my experiences in the MIS program there, which I should be completing in a few weeks. Maybe that'll be of some benefit.

The work has been fairly rigorous and the professors have proven to be knowledgeable in the topics they teach. Most of my classmates were employed as IT professionals in various capacities, which really made it a learning experience from that perspective as well. The mid-terms and finals were closed book and proctored, and most courses involved some type of group work. Most professors offered live lectures via a video conferencing product called elluminate; these were also recorded and made available for later viewing if desired. Overall I enjoyed the school. Have actually considered their CS program as my next academic endeavor, but would need to complete some prereqs first.

Are you an online degree student or campus ?

I was completely online. The lectures were made available as the professor was teaching the same course on-campus, and he would interact with both types of students concurrently.

That sounds exciting. Feel of a b & m college w/o being at campus. How long it took you to complete the degree. I mean how are they in terms of availability of courses for online students?

I can't really comment on the CS program but the MIS dept posted tentative semester schedules a year in advance. In working full time I was able to take 2 classes on average a semester and am completing it this month.

  8. I'm just starting out, taking MIS 502 and MIS 513 in the Winter term. They also gave me 3 credits in transfer from my MBA without me even asking for it which was nice.

That's pretty sweet, do the 3 credits fulfill any of the program requirements?

  10. Just the elective, but I'm certainly not complaining.

Did you have to take the GRE to qualify?
