Knowing that this is the last year of tuition-free attendance for foreigners in the Swedish system, I threw my hat in the ring (despite being enrolled in another program).

I have been waitlisted for Lund University's distance Geographic Information Systems program, but I can't really decipher how far down I am on the list. Can anyone provide some input?

    Merit Rating: 950
    Selection Result: Reserve 3
    # Admitted from this Group: 19

    TIA,
    daniel

After some Googling, it would appear that I'm around #50 on the waitlist.

Oh, well, it was worth a shot.

The admissions office tells me my initial interpretation was wrong. I'm actually #3 on the waitlist.

"Merit Rating: 950" is high. 999 indicates Admitted, 998 indicates first on waitlist. Some schools and departments use 997 to indicate second on the waitlist, but LUMA-GIS (Lund's GIS program) doesn't.

"Reserve 3" indicates that I'm third on the waitlist.

My interpretation applies only to the LUMA-GIS program - there is no standardization in the Studera selection notification. The notification is so opaque that an unofficial Facebook group has sprung up to help potential admittees commiserate over its lack of transparency (among other things).

Studera is also used for notification of foreign students who will be studying on-campus; I can't imagine having to deal with the lack of transparency when one has to make the financial plans for a move to Sweden.

No clue. Classes start in September - I probably won't know until after the first day of class.
