I was reading Yahoo news tonight and was shocked by a picture Pam Anderson in a see through top, I am not anti-nudity but my 11 year old reads Yahoo news on his laptop all the time. There is no age warning or anything.

If you don't believe here is the link.

You have to be trying pretty hard to see anything there.

    It's totally clear.

Do you want to know what my (then) 11 year old son did a few years ago? He googled "naked boobies" I found it in the google history. We are pretty conservative, and my kids are homeschooled and hang out with generally conservative friends....and yet. So, yeah, I'm 99% sure that any young blooded boy looking at that pic sees nips.
But speaking as a woman, I just have to say, she continues to be just jaw-dropping sexy at her age!? Granted I also think she's an awful role model, poor parent, floozy, slut, media-whore and drunk- but I'll give her sexy!

Maybe it's just me, but, I have to go with X on this one.

But I will agree that she is awfully good looking at her age. Congrats ^-^

Have you seen her in an up close picture lately? She's looking rode hard & hung out to dry, except for the plastic she's got all over... That's still shiny... :p Seriously, just looking at her makes me vomit a little in my mouth.. :(

I agree with your statement above.

Also, she keeps in shape and therefore stays young. Good for her.

The bottom line is that if you don't want your kids to see naked people, don't let them on the Internet unsupervised at all. I'm not saying that's great or that it's terrible, just that it's true.

I hear whispers that in other countries they show bewbs on tv.

Europe is far less conservative than North America when it comes to nudity. I rem. growing up the weekly newspaper had a naked woman on the 2nd page... essentially a babe of the week type thing... and that goes back 30 years :)

..when at resorts, etc.. it's only people from North America that actually go swimming with a t-shirt on! I shake my head and wonder why...

I looked at that pic from the OP... maybe, if I throw in some imagination, I can see something...?

Well this is not Europe, and not much imagination is needed to see it. All that is needed is at least one good eye..lol

You know I did! I'm sure my 11 year did as well. I don't rember what age I started to check out girls but I caught him peaking down the lady that cuts his hair shirt the other day. Is that to young or is it normal....

These days I'd say it's normal. Kids are exposed to more now than in the past (your original posts is a decent example) and so he's probably 11 going on 14. There are lots of tv shows for kids (watched by 7 year old kids) and they're talking about dating and kissing, etc. Granted the kids in the show are a bit older but the audience is comprised of a wide range of ages. I'd use iCarly as an example.

BTW - I'd say that the original example cited is quite mild. A moderatelly intelligent kid with some motivation can get around parental blocks with little difficulty and see pretty much anything he/she wants. And if they're not doing it at home they're doing it in someone elses home. I'm not saying that you should give up, I'm just saying you shouldn't be shocked.

When my children were younger, I created personalized homepages for them. When they logged on to the internet, they were taken to a page that said, "Hello, -----! Where do you want to go today?" This was followed by links I'd pre-approved to sites they could visit. Generally, it wasn't the websites themselves I worried about, so much as what might pop up in an ad.

They were very good about it. They knew they could only visit those approved sites and that they should never click on any kind of ad. If they saw something that advertised a site they were interested in, they came to me to ask about it and see if they could visit it.

(You have to keep in mind, when my kids were younger, this was the day and age of whitehouse.com infamy, so I was extremely cautious about where my kids went.)

In a related note: One thing that bothers me is the way TV networks pimp their prime-time shows during sports programs in the middle of the afternoon. I was watching a football game once and an extremely graphic ad for one of the CSI shows came on and all I could think was, "Sheesh!" I'm not saying the stations shouldn't be able to advertise their shows, but keeping in mind that even young kids watch sports broadcasts would be nice.

That was easy to spot. Probably posted on purpose to gather attention.

I so totally know what you mean! You just look at your child and think, "Whu-huh? How'd he even know how to do that?"

My kids have taken lots of co-op classes, but none in computers, so what they know, they must've taught themselves. My daughter made her own homepage not too long ago, and I'd never once taught her anything about HTML or anything else.

My son told me he was "working on a game" in his spare time and I didn't really ask much about it. Two days ago, he showed me what he's done and I was amazed. He's actually made a video game. From scratch, if that's the right word to use. It only has two levels so far, but... wow.

I'm just glad that when I'm watching the Patriots kick someone's butt on a Sunday afternoon that I don't have to stop and explain to some small child what all those Viagra/Cialis commercials are REALLY about.
