So I am beginning to look for a part-time DBA or PhD in Business program, and I am having a heck of a time locating ones at high quality schools. Basically, the only absolute I have is that it has to be part-time: seminar, on-line, or some combination thereof. It would not be a problem to travel across the country or even half way around the world for 3-6 long weekends a year, or maybe even for a few full weeks a year. In fact, that would be more preferable to me than a 100% on-line program, although I would definitely consider a program that was 50% or so on-line, the rest seminar based. So, the part-time thing is the only absolute. The most important criteria for me is the quality of the institution. I would rather pay the premium price for a top-tier "name" program than save money getting a very worthwhile degree from a school that either no one has heard of, or the only reason they've heard of it is because of their ads on TV. The currently "on-hold" DBA at U. of Florida would be very interesting to me, several of the European ones look interesting as well. I just feel like there have to be some higher-profile schools with part-time options that I am missing, and I hope you all can help... J
Have you read the entire "Low cost DBA and PHD" in the sticky section? Lots of good info there on a great deal of DL DBA's and PHD programs. Im also waiting to see the replies to this question as well.
Both Walden and Capella offer programs that might fit your needs. They are both pretty expensive though. Both are top quality schools. Nova also has a program and they are one of the most highly regarded of the schools that offer online programs. Also, NCU, the school I go to is quite good, but it is 100% online. It is not quite as highly regarded as Nova or Capella but that is unjustified, it's a great school. It's not as expensive as any of those.
I would recommend Georgia State University. The b-school, The Robinson School of Business, has a solid reputation. Their part-time MBA program is considered one of the best part-time MBA programs in the country according to national rankings. The Executive PhD program would require you to attend one 3 day weekend residency each month over the course of three years. Executive Doctorate in Business at Robinson College of Business
I would look at the Kennesaw State DBA. It is also AACSB accredited. KSU Coles College of Business - Why Coles DBA
A few good british one There are a few good schools in the UK who offers distance\part-time\online DBA's. I would have considered the one by Cranfield University first - the school is tripple accredited and has a a deseant 26th position ranking on their mba program by FT. An other one could be Henley or Manchester Business School - all with their acc. in order and considered reputable schools. GL
I realize this is an old thread, but wondering if you ended up finding a high quality (i.e. an Ivy league or equiv Uni type program) part-time DBA/ PhD. Realizing of course that high quality and accreditation are vastly different. I'm going through the same search now, I have several names I'm targeting but wish the list was longer....
