There are more of us now, so the process should go more quickly. There is a certain number of posts you make then they stop automatically going to moderation. I don't know what that number is but I'll try to find out for you.

 

That sounds about ridiculous. How is knowing the number of posts that have to be moderated going to help the spammers? Most aren't going to stay around long enough to hit that number to begin with and they are going to hit that number eventually whether they know what it is or not. The second they hit it if they are spammers they are going to spam so it wouldn't matter if it is 50 posts or 10.

 

I suppose that not knowing would help to some extent because some would give up. If they knew for a fact that it was say 25 posts (I pulled that number from the air) then they would make that many posts as quickly as possible and then spam. So I don't think it's ridiculous. I'm sorry for your inconvenience, when I see posts by you I'll try to get them in as quickly as possible.

 

On the flip side I would like ALL of my posts to enter the moderation queue so that they can be checked for spelling and grammar mistakes.

Can you one of you guys sneak in and turn on the ability to post longer signatures?

 

It helps them a lot. There's a default number of posts that comes preset with this plug-in when it's installed. Most spammers, once they see we have that plugin installed, will post that many posts, hoping to evade the auto-moderation. When they get to the default number and their posts are still being moderated, they usually give up, because they don't know if it's 2 more posts or 50 more posts it will take to evade the auto-moderation.

So if we tell them, they'll just churn out that many more spammy posts, which is that many more we have to remove.
