Hello all! You all seem extraordinarily knowledgeable about D.L. options. I have 21 graduate hours in English from back in the Stone Age. I am wondering if there is a D.L. masters program out there that will accept older transfer credits (at least SOME of them -- even 6 or 12 hours). So, if you know of a graduate program in English that: 1) is regionally accredited; 2) will accept transfer credits older than 7 years; 3) is 100% online; and 4) is remotely affordable . . . I would love to hear about it! Thanks!
Western New Mexico State has an MA that could include 18 units of English and 18 units of writing (or a third area could be thrown into the mix) Virtual Campus - Online Programs Tuition is very reasonable Fort hays State University also has an MA that can include English as a concentration MLS Concentration in English - Fort Hays State University I'll let you search the above sites for acceptability of transfer credits.
It must have something to do with accreditation ... Thank you Ian. Sadly, both schools require that the transfer credits be within 7 years of the anticipated graduation date. I'm WAY past that point, as these credits are from the last century. I suspect that there is some accrediting issue concerning ancient credits and thus I'm totally out of luck. *sigh* Thanks anyhow!
The Excelsior College Master of Liberal Studies (MLS) degree will allow you to transfer in up to 15 previously earned grad credits.. https://www.excelsior.edu/Excelsior_College/School_of_Liberal_Arts/Master_of_Arts_Degree_in_Liberal_Studies
And according to their web site there is no age restriction: Q: Is there any time limit on the graduate courses transferred to Tier II? A: No. There is no time limit, provided the courses meet the criteria outlined for Tier II. https://www.excelsior.edu/Excelsior_College/School_of_Liberal_Arts/Master_of_Arts_Degree_in_Liberal_Studies/MA_LS_FAQ
