Abner emailed me to say, "I can't get into DI with my usual id and password, mods please help" -=Steve=-
My log-in works with my password but brings up a generic "guest" screen. I have to access posts by selecting the "contact us" link. From the user CP, I am able to get to the forum. Please advise...
There is some sort of glitch in the matrix right now. I show up as not logged in until after I click "Today's Posts". This has been going on for about a week on multiple computers.
I sent a query about same...have heard nothing to date...still glitching. -Steve King "What we do in life echoes in eternity."
This is odd. I'm not seeing anything unusual in either of your registration records. It's possible that your cookie files have gotten corrupted. Try deleting your degreeinfo cookie (it might be both forums.degreeinfo.com and www.degreeinfo.com) and then logging in again and see if that solves the problem. If not, I may have to look more carefully at the database because I have noticed a few odd things.
This had been happening to me over the past few days as well. I could log in but was only able to access a guest account. Things seem to be working now.
It's still jacked up for me. It "appears" to be logging in but then only permits "guest access." If I click on the "contact us" link, I can view "new posts" from there and the forum has normal functionality. -Steve King
I am not seeing any of these issues, but could it have something to do with the recent switch to house the forum on forum.degreeinfo.com instead of degreeinfo.com? Just a thought ...
actually, we haven't changed where the forum is located in at least 2 years. For the moment it's accessible both from DegreeInfo Distance Learning - online degree forum - Powered by vBulletin and forums.degreeinfo.com but when we get the articles and content section done, that will be at www with the forums linked from there. I'm still looking into what's causing these issues. Given that the database is almost 10 years old, it's likely that a few bits of corrupted data have crept in and we will probably need to do some maintenance which may solve the problem.
I also am having some unusual sign in issues. I'll sign in and the sign in box will still be there until I access a thread (ie. it does not acknowledge I am signed in). Not that it matters, just saying that I agree something is not quite right. And welcome back Abner!
