Hi Folks This is my first post so if you have any advice I'd appreciate it. I'm sent overseas (Africa) for my job fairly regularly and spend weeks at a time there. I work in the US Gov's Global AIDS Program, so I'm interested in getting a Masters in Diplomavy or International Relations. I already have toms of credits in Public Health, so Int'l Public Health would be good too. I seriously need a cheap, quick online program that I can do anywhere in the world. If you have any guidance or suggestions I'd sure appreciate hearing from you. Thanks much, nxe0
We have a thread or two dedicated to political science/international relations on this forum. A few schools that quickly pop to mind that would fill this block are Salve Regina University, Troy University, and Regent University. Norwich University has a master's degree in diplomacy. There are also other interesting options such as Tulane's international development program and South Florida's MPH with a concentration in disaster management and humanitarian relief.
Webster Univ. online MA in international relations: http://www.webster.edu/online/programshow.php?prog=intl Hawaii Pacific Univ. MA in diplomacy and military studies: http://www.hpu.edu/images/GraduateStudies/MADMS/MADMS_Brochure_2009_a31132.pdf
I think there are a couple of Australian universities that offer these degrees as well. The difference? Australian grad degrees are often the research-oriented variety where you only have to write a thesis. No coursework per se. This might make it an attractive option for some.
Norwich University on Vermont http://diplomacy.norwich.edu/rea/ "Develop an understanding of global affairs "The Norwich University Master of Arts in Diplomacy (MDY) online program was designed to provide you with an in-depth understanding of crucial global topics such as international relations, international law, the global economy, international conflict, terrorism and post-conflict nation building." They had a good reputation in the 1990s. But in recent years they've become an aggressive presence selling their online opportunities - and I do not know what's become of their reputation, recognition or value.
Since you say you have studied public health and have an interest in going further, you could always go University of London, external PUBLIC HEALTH (MSC AND POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA). http://www.londonexternal.ac.uk/prospective_students/postgraduate/lshtm/public_health/index.shtml FAR from cheap, but prestigious - an with your prior exposure, you may well motor though it more easily.
The program appears tailored toward mid to senior-level military officers with formal articulation agreements with the U.S. Naval War College, U.S. Marine Corps University and U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (e.g., 18-hrs. in transfer credit toward the MA/DMS degree offered by Hawaii Pacific). You could be correct regarding online only; however, via flexible course offerings, full- or part-time study, evening classes or online classes … completion may be doable entirely online as according to the brochure all delivery options are available for accelerating degree completion. A call to the university would answer this.
and I stand corrected. I was interested in this degree as soon as you posted it, and I gave the university a call yesterday. After talking to the program director, he confirmed that it can be done entirely online, through seminars with the class (mixed attendance of on-site students and correspondence students) or directed study. They have many military officers enrolled in the program that are studying online, even from Iraq and Bagram. So this program was a great find and I appreciate you posting that link.
Staffordshire University, UK - The MA International Relations by distance learning maybe of interest to you. http://www.staffs.ac.uk/study_here/courses/international-relations-by-distance-learning-ma-tcm429532.jsp
APUS has the MA in International Relations and Conflict Resolution: http://www.amu.apus.edu/academic/programs/degree/1211/master-of-arts-in-international-relations-and-conflict-resolution Also, Master of Public health: http://www.amu.apus.edu/academic/programs/degree/1227/master-of-public-health
No issue … I didn’t know the answer myself. I had just thought with the program leanings toward military officers (articulation agreements), online completion availability would be a marketable feature.
Masters in International Relations If you would like more information on the online Master's of Sicence in Intrenational Relations at Troy University please check the eCampus Website degree programs.
Working in the political arena myself I can tell you that Norwich's program is very highly regarded in D.C.
