    John Locke University

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Need more information about this university.
Is it an accredited university or a diploma mill?
    Thanks for your help!

For starters, their site is .us and not .edu.

    From the site:

It is not recognized by CHEA nor the US Department of Education. Then it goes on to say:

Which is basically a stencil statement for diploma mills. The invariably say the exact same thing. Also, this school claims accreditation from an invalid and completely unheard of organization.

They have no entry in the Encyclopoedia Britanica, Encarta, nor even Wikipedia.

The only relevant hit in any of the major search engines is for the John Locke site itself.

The domain, according to WHOIS, is registered by someone in Texas, whilst the school lists its Registered office in Delaware and its administrative office in Nevada. However, the registrant's (one Judy Thompson, a name that produces too many separate results in Google to match to any one person) email address is from Italy.

The Texas address listed on WHOIS produces a white pages result for one Western States University. The only information I can find for anything with that name is a Western States University for Professional Studies, which is in Missouri and is on the Oregon list of unapproved schools.

    In conclusion:

Anyone who watches Lost could never enroll in a school called John Locke University. :) Oh wait, maybe the founders watch Lost?

Western States University is a phony originally run from Yuma, AZ and then, for many years, from Doniphan, MO, although they've used addresses in other places. The founder bought his PhD from a British degree mill, presumptuously named The University of England. (Its founders went to prison as a result of FBI action.)

Ted: What about Thomas Hobbes University?

    John:
Leviathan, leviathan, God shed his grace on thee
    We all redact
    The social contract
    At Hobbes Universi-tee.

John Locke University was founded by the Dharma Initiative on an unknown archipelago in the South Pacific.

Its primary programs are mythology studies and the mathematical concept known as the Valenzetti Equation.

Next fall I enroll in the University of Id. It was a hard choice between that and the prestigious Dilbert School of Business.

I got it... But when I made my last payment, there was a flash, and suddenly I was back to the point where I was making my first payment. Something tells me their scaling installment system is going to be a bit more expensive and time-consuming than thought.

I applied there for the MBA, but the program is on hold while they find a new professor of back-stabbery and poisoning.

Did you get an opportunity to see what life would have been like if you hadn't gone there? Colleges that can give a sideways view of life are awesome.

I also have a hunch that JLU has a good ethics department with spirited debates about good verses evil.

Just FYI, I hear their management program is terrible. :D I think I'll hold out for the Dogbert College of Entrepreneurship.
