Oy vay, I've been researching this so long. I need ANY RA masters to get into a state education program that only accepts RA masters degrees for admission. It can be in basket weaving for all they care since I have extensive business experience. I would love to do Andrew Jackson but it's not RA. North Carolina has amazing rates for in-state only but out of state students pay through the nose! Prefer easy (open) admissions). I have seen degree paths for $9000-$11000 but am hoping to do better if possible since I have to follow the masters with a B&M state post-grad certification path that cannot be avoided but is at least $20k.

ANY info I'm missing is appreciated. I get the feeling there is SOMETHING out there I haven't found. Maybe a former NA school that just got RA accreditation or something like that!

    Thanks and best.

One from American Military U will cost about $10K or TUI which will run about $15K. I suggest you look at some of the "stickys" posted and there are links to things like "MEd's for under 10K".

Also, Fort Hays at $225 per credit is a great deal.

Unfortunately WNMU wants a GRE or gpa (no GPA from my TESC degree). Amberton's Masters of Professional Development looks pretty good. Very similar to WNMU's Interdisciplinary studies. Neither have much business focus which isn't so great. Very liberal arts oriented. I can live with that (and it would probably be more enjoyable since I'm a lib studies/humanities type).

I am waiting to hear from APU regarding transfers from Andrew Jackson. I think taking 15 credits at AJU and then transferring to APU has lots of merit. Fast, cheap, minimal admission requirements.

    Thanks for the responses.

The Ft. Hays MS in Education will run you only $8100. Not a bad deal and I don't believe that they require the GRE as a requirement for admission. Not sure about GPA. Might be worth a look.

The University of Arkansas offers a very inexpensive MS in Operations Management. It is 30 credits @ $240/cr.hr. plus a distance fee of $100 per course, making it just over 8k total. It obviously has a business focus, which you seem to be looking for, plus you can get a specialization in certain areas.

The program doesn't require a GRE/GMAT if you have above a 3.0 - not sure what they would do about your situation. You may be able to start classes without being in the degree and then apply after you've successfully completed a course or two. They are very good about working around obstacles - I would suggest contacting the site coordinator if you consider going with this school.

Chadron State College is very competitive on tuition. Students taking online classes pay a flat-rate fee rather than in-state or out-of-state fees. http://www.csc.edu/extended/online/

There used to be a good deal of feedback from our "Finding Money for College" book.* One common thread was people agreeing with our statement that if one spends as much time looking for alternative ways of financing a degree as they do looking for the least expensive programs, they often had success. After all, it's the net out-of-pocket amount that counts.

The idea for the book arose when daughter Mariah ended up paying $0 for her NYU Master's. She figured her total costs would be around $42,000, and figured that it was like a job: if she put in 420 hours and raised the money, it would be the equivalent of earning $100 an hour.

Of course it doesn't always work, but it worked for her, and from an awful lot of readers who shared the details of their quest. (Mariah's money came from something like eleven sources, ranging from foundations that make grants to individuals for travel, for book purchase, for living expenses, as well as tuition, to an essay contest to four paid internships, etc. and even from her share of the advance on the 'Finding Money' book. )

    _______
    * The book is long out of print, although much of the content is still useful. Bookfinder.com has many dozens of used ones under $5 including shipping. (No, of course authors don't earn royalties on used books.) As mentioned earlier, the publisher, Ten Speed, was recently bought by Random House (apparently for $30 million), and Random House is slowly going through the 2,000 titles they acquired to decide which ones will be revived and updated, and which will be dropped. I'd love to see it updated and back in print. So far Random House has said 'yes' to one of our cookbooks, and 'no' to another, but not a word about all the rest.

What a great deal. I wonder why this was never discussed before.

    From their website:

Beginning with the January 11, 2010 start date, the tuition rate for new students entering the Master of Education degree programs is $6,950.

If the new owners of Ten Speed Press drop some of your titles, do you get your rights to the book(s) back? If they don't drop your books, what rights do you have insofar as forcing a reprint edition or a new edition?
