I started my "prep" time with UoP.

Thursday was the first day of my mentorship training with UoP. I had some issues logging on because of cookies and such. In other words, I would go to the website they gave me, and even after logging in, no course would be displayed. I finally got it working and was able to log in yesterday. Of course, I did get about 3 phone calls from UoP because I hadn't logged in on the first day. Funny that the mentorship email I received said to email them if there was a problem, which I did, only to get a response the next day. Oh well, at least I'm in now!

I'm a little nervous because this is not the course they hired me for. Apparently it was one they were designing, but they hadn't finished it yet, so they assigned me to another course. I'm looking forward to it, and I hope it goes well! I'll keep everyone updated.

Glad you got in to the class site. It is nervewracking, isn't it? But keep your cool and hang in there...you'll be fine.

Yes, the whole cookies thing is a pain in the butt. My wife tells me, however, that I'll only use the classroom.phoenix.edu site during the mentorship. After that I'll just use the eCampus site.

That is correct - for some reason they have not been able to link the mentorship classrooms and the regular classrooms in the new eCampus site.

    Finished!

I just submitted my final grades for my first UoP course. I'm glad to be finished. It's amazing how much you learn over the course of a semester. If I'm asked to continue (which I hope I will be), I've already found ways to improve the course. I'm just waiting on the okay from my mentor.

    Hooray!

Matt, I remember that feeling well. I'm in my fourth class now and I have good times and bad. But you do learn a lot and I find that each session there are students who I really help and that keeps me going.

That is the best feeling. I got an email from student a year and a half after she was in my class telling me she was graduated and thanked me for my encouraging words when she was just starting college. You can't beat that!

    Wow!

So I had completed my mentorship and I was feeling pretty good. When my wife completed her mentorship, she had to wait about 6 months to do another class. Since then she's pretty much had a class at all times. I expected to have to wait as well, but I just checked my email and got 2 solicitations for courses. I'm excited!

I have done this often with my past professors. I have two college educators in my immediate family so I try to remember the workload whenever I make special requests of a professor. I have had some commendable instructors at UoP who have been very encouraging.

Might I impose on several of you who are instructors with UoP to inquire about my question in another thread about class load scheduling?

I am trying to find out if any students have successfully petitioned to take three bachelor level courses concurrently. I now take two and would like to step it up, at least for one or two class cycles. My current graduation date is June 28, 2010 and I have a 3.90 GPA.

Thanks and I apologize for the thread hijack!

    Welcome

    Matt,

Congrats on your accomplishment and welcome to the UOP family! I completed my "UOP" last August and life just has not been the same. I teach supply chain and my courses have been coming fairly frequently. The most I've done at one time for UOP online has been two courses and that takes a lot to do. I'm fortunate in that my classes are typically 8-12 students and I get time to really develop a report with the students. Just remember....UOP will give you as much as you can bear!

    Hi Matt,

Since it's been awhile since you last posted about your new UOP career, I wondered if you would give us another update? Did you accept the two courses you were offered after your mentorship? How did that go for you? Would you recommend UOP to other prospective distance ed instructors?

Thanks for any insight you can provide; I'm just starting my job search/application submission phase, and am curious about the entire process.
