Hi, everyone, I'm currently in the IT field but were I live the jobs are few and far between. I was looking for something in the medical field and decided on on becoming an Electrocardiographer or a EKG Tech, I found a program online (since were I live it would take about 2 1/2 hours to get to a campus that offers this degree) at the Allied Health Institute at this website

    http://www.alliedhealthinstitute.edu/online_training_courses/ekg_technician/

it seems like a good program, and I should have my foot in the door quick (currently 25 living at home because the jobs I do find are temp) and I've found many hospitals that will hire me as Monitor Techs since apparently its cheaper for them to hire a EKG tech than a full fledged Nurse/CNA/RN with EKG experience (nature of the beast I guess) but I would be able to take the national exams for these certifications:
    National Certified ECG Technician (NCET)
Nationally Registered title of Certified EKG Technician (NRCEKG)
    Certified Cardiographic Technician - CCT

I was wondering if anyone knew of this school it seems to be accredited. Any info would be great! Thanks so much :)

    It is nationally accredited.

EKG techs are employed by some hospitals or cardiac offices.

The medical assistant has more job oportunities but some medical assistats are trained on the job without any formal training and pay can be low.

For certification examiantion go for Certified Cardiographic Technician - CCT. That board also certified cath lab techs, cardiac and vascular ultrasound techs and carries more weight.
