The last time I posted on here, I was trying to figure out the best school for me. I was locked between Troy University and Bellevue University. I received a lot of input from a few people and I want to say thanks. I have decided to go with Bellevue University and major in Management. I am in the accelerated program, so I will be done in 12-15 months. I will start the major courses in March/April 2010 so that I may take full advantage of my military tuition assistance as well as the GI Bill. I chose this school because I will be able to finish my degree in a year or so. I had a lot of credit (92 semester hours) that was received in transfer that will allow me to finish after completing the major courses. My admissions counselor is very helpful and patient as I was going back and forth about my decision for the past 2 months. I am currently enrolled in the Kirkpatrick Series (3 required classes for all online students) and it will be challenging. I am ready. This will give me the opportunity to apply for a commission in the Air Force. My goal is to become an officer before I retire (8 years left until retirement). I figure I can go to Troy University or another school for my Master's once I am done with my B.S. degree. This site is very helpful to those that are searching for info on the many different schools that offer distance learning. Thanks again to all the provided comments as well as everybody else that posted a lot of valueable information about all of the programs that are available.
Congratulations! I think you made a great decision. I recently completed the major portion of Bellevue's Leadership program and am now starting their mandatory Kirkpatrick series. A simple word of advice to you...DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. The courses move very quickly in the accelerated program. If you fall behind you will be in a world of trouble. Be sure to post regular updates here as to your progress. Good luck! Pug
Thanks Pug! I was wondering how you were doing in your degree program. I read a lot of your post about Bellevue University as well as a few others from Jigamafloo and Tigerhead. I am currently in the Kirkpatrick Series and it looks a bit challenging. I am currently a week ahead of schedule, so things are working out so far. I chose to do the KPS Series first to take full advantage of my military tuition assistance thru FY '09 and '10. I was thinking of starting either an after action report at the end of each course or after each week.
The Kirkpatrick Series is a mandatory set of 3 courses that all Bellevue undergrads have to take regardles sof their major. It's 9 hours in full and comines civic duty, history, and philosophy, with a string emphasis on critical thinking. Pug
Congratulations! Do keep us posted on your progress -- we'd be very interested to hear, and it'll be great information for others in the future looking for a similar program. Cheers, Adrienne
