Hi all! I just wanted to share that I have finally been accepted into the online MPA program at University of Colorado - Denver. I haven't posted on this forum very much yet but I lurk and read a lot of threads - so thank you already for all your help I am so excited, it was my first choice. Appying to these programs was no bed of roses. I had a couple of mishaps in my application process: The first school I applied to kept asking me for all this information that was not listed on their website and then not a week later I received a letter saying that my application was rejected because I did not submit all the documents on time. That was pretty demoralizing, especially because I am a good student and a goody-two-shoe Another school emailed me to ask me what an LL.M is! - I know there are all sort of weird degrees out there but 1) I think an LL.M is pretty standard and 2) GOOGLE!! I decided not to pursue that one! So UCD it is! Yay! I am sure you will hear from me more now that I start on this path... or maybe I should join the Facebook group given one of the threads below! J.
Congratulations. If you get a chance to visit Denver it is an interesting city: 16th street, light rail system, mountains, lots of interesting places to visit, and an airport that locals joke about it being in Kansas. I was just there for a few days.
Oh, that is funny. Care sharing which school it was? Good luck with the MPA. I second Ian's suggestion about seeing Denver.
I'm a graduate of the program so if you have any questions ask away. It's a great program I really enjoyed the experience overall.
I lived there for a year and it was wonderful! I would move back in a heartbeat but my wife never would.
Congratulations! For the record, I live in Denver and it is a beautiful place. UCD has a good reputation as well. Nice choice! Good luck with your academic endeavors!
Thanks everyone! I have already been to Denver once last year when I went skiing in Colorado and it was great! I am already looking forward to going back hopefully in January. I am also happy to hear that some people have had a good experience with the program, when I was researching schools I didn't find that much information on this particular program. As for me getting another degree, I think I forget pain too fast! I remember when I did my LL.M that I would never do another Master's (or PhD) and what exactly am I doing now!! The MPA will be a good boost for my career but my next degree (there will probably be another one way way down the road) would be purely for my own pleasure, like an MA in descriptive linguistics. And then I'll be done... probably...
I'm planning on applying within the next year and was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their thoughts and/or insight on the program. Thanks!!
