I've been gone from here for about many months. I just answered a few PMs I had sorry about the long delay getting back to you guys with the PA chart. Thanks to this forum I went ahead and started a B&M quarter system program (I can take up to 18 credits in 10 weeks). I'm working on a BSN and knocking out pre-reqs for a Masters program at the same time. This particular program required the most science pre-reqs in our area so it works out well for me. Then I still have to decide between NP and PA. I'm leaning NP at this point as the education cost would be lower. Then if NP do I go family or psych. Ah decisions...but I am knocking out the first block and even though it's not through distance ed I do credit this forum for putting this particular idea in my head. There are a lot of knowledgeable and helpful folks here.
Congrats! If you get a moment and could perhaps detail what you know about the differences between the NP and PA programs, as well as scope of practice differences, that might be very useful to many here. I'm surprised to hear that the NP is actually less expensive; I had previously been led to believe that the NP program required more actual coursework and that NPs could, in some circumstances, do another year or two of school and earn an MD, while that option was not available for PAs. I've never been clear, but always been curious, on the functional and educational differences between the two degrees. In any case, best of luck in your continued studies.
thats really great... Good luck for your future! and keep updating your thread so that everybody should get benefit from this forum
