    Hi All,

I am currently taking a Business Law Applications class at Amberton, however, in the summer I might be looking for another program that has a Masters in Ed.
    Anyone know about TUI? Good...

There are great numbers of forum members, who graudated from Touro International University (TUI University or YOUR University). However, the search option is great for seeking the old discussion threads about this school.

TUI University was known as Touro International University, and branch of Touro College. The school was orginally associate with Touro College, but then has it own accreditation by Western Region. Then later was sold to a different investor.

Any reason you consider TUI for your Master in Education, when there are great number of schools offer the same degree?

You say that as if there is something wrong with TUI??

I completed the MS-ITM and enrolled in the MBA - Finance program recently. I will probably finish it after my PhD. They are a good school, good/very good customer service, and the class format is easy to follow. The only downside (I have said this a thousand times and will always say it) is they do not have books. While many like the fact that no books means no books to purchase, I like to have books as referance material.

The program is all paper writing so if you hate to write, look elsewhere.

Does anyone know what "TUI" stands for? It used to stand for "Touro University International" but they no longer can use the word "Touro" (and they already have the word "University" following the "TUI."

Maybe it's like "Harry S Truman" where the "S" didn't stand for anything.

In one of the episode of the Simpsons, Homer J. Simpson was in the the search in finding out what the "J" stand for, only to find out that his middle name was "Jay".

It's a very good school. Most of my experience is with the College of Business Administration, but I've heard good things about the College of Education. Do you have any specific areas of interest?

TUI is latin for "YOUR" so it is YOUR University.

In my own opinion, TUI suffers from the same problem that some other DL universities suffer from. It's simply this. You can get an MEd from TUI or Walden or Phoenix and probably Cappella and Argosy etc. I'm certain that they're good degrees. However, you can probably also get the same MEd from your local state university at half the price. I haven't checked the actual numbers because they vary from place to place but that's my only criticism of TUI (or any of the others), they're expensive.

Can't say I agree. I got a military discount and completed the MS-ITM from TUI for $6,750 ($750 x 9 classes). That is on par or cheaper then the local schools which are UF and USF.

I start my 4th of 5 semesters at TUI on Monday. I've been very happy with the school. They give a good discount if you work for a local, state or the federal government or if you live in California. It used to come out to $750 for a 4 credit class but a few months ago they lowered the discounted amount to $1000 a class, which is still $250 a credit hour.

Do you know how many graduate courses you can transfer in?
How long are the quarters and can I take more than one class?

I have completed my Educational Leadership Credentials from Cal Poly Pomona and work in Admin for a school dist already. I am just looking for a program that is cheap$$ and where I can earn my Masters as quick as possible.

Not sure about the maximum # of hours they accept, but I do know that in the MSITM program they credited/transferred in 8 course hours (two classes, since TUI courses are four hours per) worth of credit for a co-worker based on 9 hours (three classes) of work done at Webster University.

As far as experiences, mine were very much like Randell's; very positive, and I enjoy writing, so the coursework wasn't at all bad. I do second the criticism about lack of books for reference. CD based materials just aren't the same.

I was checking out north central website. Do you know how many units can transfer in? I have completed 41 units of graduate ed course work already. I just can not complete from Cal Poly Pomona due to job relocation. I guess that is why I am looking for low cost/ get my Masters as quick as possible.

Here is the transfer info - Up to 90 transfer credits may be accepted into the bachelor's programs for relevant undergraduate coursework, 6 credits into the master's programs for relevant graduate coursework, and 12 credits into the doctoral programs for relevant graduate course work. Additonal specific provisions — as with the bachelor of education program and the marriage and family therapy specializations, for example — may apply. Consult the NCU Catalog for more detail.

There are times when I think that I would have been smart to have gone into the military. It's hard to imagine how my life might be different. If nothing else I would have gotten a nice military discount on college tuition.

    TUI structure

    from an admissions counselor:

"Each course you can expect to spend between 3-4 hours a week on the workload. If you plan on taking two courses, you will spend between 6-8 hours a week on the work. However, you can take as little as one course per session and up to three courses per session.

Each course is 12 weeks in duration consisting of 6 modules; each module is roughly 2 weeks long. After each module is completed, you will be required to type a 3-5 page essay. That will be your form of testing with TUI University."

    Hi~

I graduated from TUI with a BSBA last summer...I surely don't have any complaints seeing how I am military and the degree cost me nothing...not even for books!

I will say this too, once I graduated; I had zero issues transferring that degree to Chadron State or Oklahoma State in pursuit if an MBA. The degree was never questioned like my GMAT scores were :)...

TUI: Great school, great learning techniques, and great instructors.
