Thank you for trying to help. However, as mentioned in my first email I did try contacting the university directly by email and by phone without receiving any responses. I have read all the information posted on their web page (which seems a little bit dated) and even tried the new university. I guess it's time to look for other options and come back later to this program, when the new university have completed sorting out their merger.

    Thoughts on Lampeter/TSD (Wales)

    Greetings!

I'm an occasional lurker with a first-time query.

I have been accepted into Bangor University to start a research Ph.D. in religious studies. Since my acceptance, my supervisor has been assigned to the Lampeter campus of the new University of Wales Trinity Saint David. This is not a problem for me as I will still be able to work with that supervisor. (Eventually, it looks like I will be transferred to TSD but the details are not yet clear.)

I already have an M.A. and B.A. in religion and this helped me to be classified as being eligible for non-probationary status at Bangor. I am fortunate enough to be in a tenure-track position at a two-year (community) college. While I do not need a Ph.D. for my current position, it would be very helpful should I decide to move into administration down the road. Of course, I also have my own professional reasons for a terminal degree in my discipline.

While I think I have done my due diligence, I wonder if I am missing anything? The program is not cheap but I will be able to pay for it within 4-5 years from the salary bump I will receive after I earn a Ph.D. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Stan Jones
