Has anyone taken this program or know someone who has?...Is it a worthwhile program?

Does it hold water outside SA?

  2. In South Africa, the LLB is the degree you need if you want to practice law. I doubt that it would have much utility elsewhere.

Do you intend to practice law in Canada? If so, you might want to have a look a the following website www.flsc.ca - look under foreign lawyers or foreign law degrees.

Even if you don't intend to become a member of a Canadian provincial law society, the UNISA LLB is still recognized in Canada. However, I don't think that a UNISA LLB would have much utility in the U.S. though.

You might want also want to look at the University of London External LLB proramme. In my view, its a bit more prestigious & quite rigorous. That's where I'm headed.

    Best of luck to you.

South African law is Roman Dutch law, not British Common law. I don't know the LLB of UNISA would do in countries other than South Africa. The LLB of the University of London would do in some countries which were British colonies such as Malaysia.
