If you can pay the tuition Florida Atlantic University(State and Fully AACSB-accredited) has a Master of Taxation, is a good program the only thing I don't like about this program the tuition is over 24K same with Florida International University. Here is the link: http://www.mastersoftaxation.com/

University of Alabama - Master of Laws & Taxation.

"Alabama's LL.M in Taxation Program is one of the most innovative in the country. Though the use of online technology, it bridges the gap between traditional distance education and live classroom instruction. Students interact with professors during class times via the internet and may also access course materials on a website and communicate with instructors by e-mail.

The Graduate Tax Program leads to the LL.M. in Taxation upon the completion of 24 semester hours of graduate course work. The course of study allows for completion of the degree in six semesters, covering two calendar years.

Applicants may seek admission as degree or non-degree candidates. This program is also unique in that it offers practicing lawyers an educational opportunity to obtain an advanced degree in tax law without having to pay the expense of living in residence. Courses in the program are taught by distinguished faculty and experienced practitioners not just from Alabama but also from instructors at Emory, Georgia State and other institutions or law firms throughout the Southeast. The instructors provide an in-depth but broad-based curriculum in tax.

The LL.M. degree prepares students for a practice specializing in tax law, and The Law School provides career services to support its tax graduates, not the least of which is access to available positions through the Law School's alumni network, which is more than 6,000 strong and includes graduates in cities throughout the Southeast. Hi All,

    Thanks for the input.

I am not qualified for the LLM program as I don't have a law degree.

I really like the San Jose State MST program: reputable and reasonably priced. However, it doesn't offer online courses.

    Hi All,

So the bottom line is, does it make a lot of difference if I pursue MST from San Jose State vs William Howard Taft? I am a CPA and have a MBA.

Yes, if you're going to practice in the area I would definately go with San Jose. If for nothing else the contacts you'll make in a local program. I'm sure Taft is very good and difficult but I think it's better to go with a product known to members of your profession.

    Thanks friartuck.

San Jose State will be perfect if and only if they offer some courses online.

Actually it doen't say the LLM or JSM degrees are accredited by the ABA. (The ABA doesn't accredit past the JD level.)

Which brings up an interesting issue. If the programs are not reviewed by the ABA and the school is not RA or part of an RA school, it seems to me that technically these are unaccredited degrees.

Taft is too expensive for a DETC degree, IMHO. How about the EA?

What do you plan to do with a MST? FYI, tons of CPAs up here in Washington getting Golden Gate degrees for some reason.

    Hi macattack,

I noticed that you are working on CFA exam 1.
May I ask what are you going to do with CFA designation?

Here is an older thread which might be of interest to you, it refers to both San Jose State and GGU. Most of the posters have experience with GGU, it sounds like both programs are good but perhaps GGU is better known. One person said something about San Jose's program not being well known. GGU has the advantage of being offered online as well as classroom.

I plan to start studying for the CFA in a short while, but first I fly out tomorrow for a 2 week vacation to Cabo :)

In answer to you question, I would like become more qualified as a Credit Research Analyst or similar. I guess I an odd duck - my current hobby is to research Credit Derivitives, especially the $55 Trillion+ CDS (Credit Default Swap) market. I wish I knew wanted my passion was years ago.
