Hello: I would appreciate your comments of the level of difficulty on the following DANTES tests: *Technical Writing - (easy - at least that is the general consensus) *Intro to world religions *Money and Banking *Drug and alchohol abuse Thanks, Abner
I took Money and Banking and it was damn hard - I failed it. Tech writing was really easy. I did not take the others. Which ones have you taken already?
I have only taken 2 from your list. Technical Writing- yes, easy. Drug and Alcohol Abuse- I was surprised at this one, more difficult than I anticipated. I passed, but I understudied- the info you need for this exam is free an accessible, mostly through govt websites- to do it over again, I would say it was straight forward- so study more than you think you'll need. Again, I don't think it was a "hard" test, I just underestimated how much of those famous drug table/symptom charts I needed to memorize. (answer: all)
I took the following without any studying DANTES Intro to Criminal Justice DANTES Intro to Law Enforcement DANTES Intro to Computing DANTES Tech Writing DANTES Intro to Business DANTES Here’s to you Health DANTES Ethics DANTES MIS
World Religions - Fairly tough, but very doable after a weekend with an introductory text. Drug & Alcohol Abuse - I found it pretty easy, but I did have some formal training in the subject beforehand.
>> Bruce, Maybe I found it difficult since my training was recreational. LOL Just kidding- I'm actually a huge anti-drug and alcohol geek and so I really didn't have any idea about the differences between narcotics, barbiturates, stimulates, etc so it was all new to me. I don't even use aspirin, so perhaps a person with a little more "experience," or maybe "exposure" is a better word- would not find it as hard as I did.
Dsst I have taken and passed Technical Writing, Intro to World Religions, & Money & Baking. Like all other tests the level of ease is very subjective. Technical Writing: I do a lot of technical writing for work and considered this to be one of the easier tests. Just Goggle “technical writing” read a few articles then go for it! World Religions: Most Americans are familiar with Christianity and Judaism however this test covers a lot of other eastern religions. I studied out of a World Religions for Dummies book and was able to pass after a couple weeks of study (1-2 hours a day). Check your local library they probably have this book. Also if you’re lucky your library will have The Teaching Company audio CD’s. The Teaching Company has a lot of courses on religion by some of the greatest professors in the U.S. I have listened to quite a few of these courses and highly recommend them. http://www.teach12.com/teach12.aspx?ai=16281 Note: Most of the courses on religion are by secular scholars from secular universities. If you hold fundamentalist views in regards to your own particular faith you may be offended (or challenged) by some of these courses. Money & Banking: Study hard for this one. I work in real estate and banking and still had a hard time with this one. It is passable just be well prepared. I remember there was a large focus on the Federal Reserve System.
No comment. I received training in the different types of drugs, class schedules, etc., both at the police academy & the DEA drug investigator's course so I found it pretty easy, although I can understand why a layman wouldn't.
Has anyone taken any of the following: Principles of Supervision Foundations in Education Principles of Finance Intro to Computing Personal Finance Intro to Business law (CLEP) If so, easy? Difficult? Level of study required? - Pug
I took foundations of education, when I took it I thought it was a tough test... but I received my results yesterday and got a 75... so couldn't have been THAT tough.
I took Principles of Supervision and thought it was fairly easy. It's comprised of basic management stuff, not too bad. I also took personal finance and found it to be easy too. There's a lot of common sense stuff tested in that one....at least I thought it was common sense.
I took/passed both and found them to be easy. However, that may be because both simply covered job knowledge for me.
I took Principles of Finance. I think that an DSST Business Law II were only CLEP/DSST I took that I considered non-trivial. I didn't take CLEP Business Law, because I took Business Law I at TESC. Anyway, for Principles of Finance, make sure you're at least a bit comfortable with the various time value of money/discount rate/bond coupon rate, or what have you tables, and if you forget to bring a calculator, you'll really regret it. I scored 67, I think out of 80 or 90? It was the second lowest DSST score I've gotten (lowest was the aforementioned Business Law II with a score of 64). Passing score was 46 when I took it, so I guess even if you mess up lots, you still actually have a chance though.
I took an advanced teachers training course (non-accredited ) and I found that some of the material was the same (ex. the evens classification, and diff aproaches to education) There were some questions on the american system on education... a lot of them general knowlege like 'no tolarance' and about laws... My mother is in Education so there were some words I knew from at home. I really hadn't expected to do so well on it...
