    The other thought that occurs to me: I wonder what's being said at the K-W/Warren National message board, if it even still exists? I seem to remember it was public for a while and then it was made private, and when it was public, a lot of the content of the message board consisted of millspeak from various graduates defending their degrees and telling others how to defend charges that K-W was an unwonderful school.

    I'm wondering if they're still in denial, or think that some horrible miscarriage of justice has happened to their beloved school, or what?

    "The highest priority of Warren National University is our students and the integrity and quality of the academic degree programs that serve them. Our faculty and staff are focused upon and dedicated to innovating new and creative applications for Internet-based learning technology. Warren National University constantly strives to provide a valuable educational experience to our students without compromising the quality and integrity of the academic materials or flexible nature of the degree program model. "

    They sure wrote good copy.

    Here's an interesting story about the WNU closure aftermath:

    1. Student wants to enroll at WNU, needs financial assistance, as WNU requires payment in advance;

    2. WNU helpfully suggests Wells Fargo for student loans;

    3. Wells Fargo provides $8,000 to Student as a private (not Federally insured) student loan;

    4. WNU collects full $8,000 tuition payment from Student;

    5. WNU provides $1,875 worth of classes to Student, then announces closure, does not refund remaining $6,125;

    6. Wells Fargo holds Student responsible for repayment of full $8,000 loan.

    More reaction to the WNU closure, including the following statement from Mary Kay Hill, Administrative Director of the Wyoming Dept. of Education:

    How well is that going? The Student described in the previous post puts it like this:

    And in another (predictable) bit of Warren National news:

    From the WNU website:
    It does seem possible that referring former students to a school which was recently ordered to "cease and desist all operations" might appear to be an unsatisfactory outcome, particularly in the context of a lawsuit filed by those students.
    Perhaps Breyer State?

    I love it.

    Warren National aka Kennedy Western has for all these years had all of these apologists talking about why it wasn't a mill.

    It closes and tries to sell its sucker list to another mill

    Said other mill is so bad that Alabama, not exactly the reference point for rigorous school regulation, won't even renew their license.

    And now Warren National is seeking somebody else?

    Seriously, Breyer State, maybe Palmers Green or Ratchford.

    Hell, maybe Steve Levicoff can be convinced to revive Plantation U :)

    My favorite from Warren National University article

    From the Cheyenne Herald article about Warren National University

    "About exams: Students could log onto a website and pull up the test they were to take. Even tests for master's and doctoral degrees were multiple choice. The exam was graded immediately. A student could then get exam results, along with all of the answers, immediately print it out, and if they did not pass, they could call the exam coordinator and say, "I'm ready to re-take that exam."

    What should student do?

    I am a current student of WNU, what should I do? Do they really looking for another university to transfer our credit to or I am being naive.
    Should I have a law suit again them.
    need help

    Preston University is no better than WNU. Anyplace that WNU finds that will accept WNU transfer credits is going to be unaccredited with just as little utility to the degree as WNU or Preston University.

    Here's the choices that I see.
    1. Try to finish up your WNU degree before the end of the month and hope that you get utility out of the degree. This is possible because sometimes potential employers don't check if the degree is accredited. Won't work at schools or most government jobs because they usually do check. A warning here though is that after being hired somewhere down the road someone might check your degree and you could have problems down the road. The old ticking time bomb story.
    2. Try to sue. I think this has a very small chance because the owners are going to make sure that there's not any money left to sue for.
    3. Forget you ever even heard of WNU and move on with your life.

    Good luck!

    I graduated a couple of years back.

    I would try to first finish your school. WNU says that they are looking for another school (possibly another unaccredited one) which will accept WNU credits.

    If you really feel that you will loose a lot of money, time and hard work you might consider contacting the law firm. It would not hurt.

    Once again, for information pertaining to the suit please see http://members7.boardhost.com/MajorTom/msg/1235886478.html.

    Or better yet, go straight to their website at http://www.rothgerber.com

    You can bet that if WNU finds another school, said school
    (a) won't issue a degree without getting more money out of you; and

    (b) given that they are accepting WNU students, they will undoubtedly be what John Bear originally described as "less than wonderful" (a euphamism that essentially means worthless.)

    Ssin,

    As Bill Huffman said, sadly, I think the best choice is to forget you ever attended there and move on with your life. I, for one, wouldn't want to take the risk of the time bomb exploding.

    There is one other possibility: if you're enrolled in an undergraduate program, check out Lawrie Miller's bain4weeks.com This is a great resource that describes how to build on the knowledge you've already acquired, whether from WNU or just from living your life, and use credit-by-exam to earn your degree. The degree so earned will be totally legitimate, from a regionally accredited school (the "gold standard" for accreditaion in the US).
