I just got word from Mr. Michael Lambert that the last and final step regarding DETC recognition in Texas was voted on yesterday by the THECB. DETC is now officially recognized as an accreditor!

    Abner :)

OOPS! I am not sure what the THECHB is! Meant THECB. :)

The announcement is great news for those earning nationally (DETC) accredited degrees. Is this policy retroactive or does it only apply to DETC accredited degrees from this date forward?

This is a great milestone for DETC and the respective graduates. I knew the State of Texas' stand with the previous THECB administration were in for a '"rude awakening" regarding their discriminatory practices. Kudos to all of you who got involved in this process.

I wonder if this means that DETC accredited degree will be good for teaching K-12.

My accreditation officer got the news. He is working on a new policy right now. Cool.

Excellent news. Reason and the threats of lawsuits have prevailed.

I wonder if any unaccredited schools in Texas will now seek to become DETC accredited? I would hope so.

    Wonderful, Wonderful News from Texas.

I would assume it would apply to anyone that has a DETC accredited degree, or any school that has DETC accreditation. I do not believe there is a stipulation for it only to pertain to DETC degrees from here on forward, so I would assume it just simply means "DETC will be recognized" period.

K-12 Teachers with DETC grad. degrees

Good Morning, Wondering if that opens any doors for educators to seek DETC graduate degrees. Opinions on this appreciated in reference to NJ . Many thanks. Hille
