Definitely not a full DL program (e.g., one full academic year in residency /18 CH), but if a Texas resident: Tarleton State University Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies is a 72 CH program @ $173.97 /CH = $12,526. However, “Degree candidates will be required to complete a campus residency of at least two long semesters (Fall /Spring) and one summer session, consecutively.”

    If a non-Texas resident; tuition @ $456.97 /CH = $32,902.

    Old Thread...I know.

Just a note to say that my sister is in Liberty's EdD program (class of 2014). She has a lot of good things to say about it. For what that is worth.

I am looking into this, I need to distinguish the difference between Distance Learning and Online Learning for this program. I believe the requirement is 45 credits at $330/hour now (with department grant.)

The University of Alabama EdD looks like a great program, but I believe it requires monthly visits to campus, which would be inconvenient for most people who live out of state.

I've put in a request for more info. Also, there are differences in transmission of courses for the EdD Higher Education and the EdD Education Leaderhip.

    Current Doctoral Programs & Rate

I've read through this thread and much of the information seems to be several years old. Since someone was so kind as to bring this topic back up more recently, I was wondering if anyone has researched doctoral programs in education recently that can give feedback.

I currently hold a M.Ed and would like to pursue my doctoral degree at an accredited online university. I don't mind having to commute a few times during the process during the summer (I am a teacher now so summer would be a must) to complete residency requirements. I live in Ohio.

I would like information on the most reputable AFFORDABLE avenues to pursue. Any help would be highly appreciated. I've skimmed many websites- but many make it difficult to decipher costs and time frame. Any help in this regard is appreciated.

Hello, I reviewed this thread for a friend who is looking for a low cost Phd or Educational Doctoral Credential. Currently a out of US school can be considered. Ideas and thoughts appreciated. Hille

I mis-spoke. In fact The Great State of Maine has an online EdD offered by the University of New England. (see post 126).
