William Howard Taft University www.taftu.edu now offers an online EdD. Tuition is $420/month. Since the program can be completed in as few as 27 months and tuition is only billed for a maximum of 48 months, tuition can range from $11,340 to $20,160. They are accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council.

    Calling Doctor Bear

    John,

Any feedback on this one? Why the Ed.D?
Executive Program in Work-Based Learning Leadership, http://executiveeducation.wharton.upenn.edu/clo.htm[/URL]

    Tuition and Fees

The tuition for the University of Pennsylvania Executive Program in Work-Based Learning Leadership in the 2009–2010 academic year is $20,000 per course block, including room, board, and materials. Tuition and fees are reviewed yearly and may be increased with the approval of the University of Pennsylvania trustees. An additional course is required for the master's degree along with a fee of $4,680. Candidates for the EdD degree must either already have a master's degree or complete the master's degree offered through this program. The sixth dissertation block requires the $20,000 fee as well.

Last question - If you had $120K who else would you look at?

    Thank you so much.

The University of Saint Augustine for Health Sciences www.usa.edu is now offering a DETC-accredited EdD in Higher Education with two required residencies. Unfortunately, their tuition page does not say too much about tuition for this 60-hr. EdD program.

    Ph.D program

    Hello,
I'm looking to see if anyone on board had looked into or is the Texas A&M Commerce Educational Psychology program or NCU Ed.d program. I would like some insight on the distant programs. I would like to start a Ph.D program by the Summer or Fall'10.

    -Thanks

  10. Don't know if this will work for you, but a Doctor of Multidiciplines (Mu.D) at the University of Antonius could be partially concentrated in Education. I chose this for myself, along with two other concentrations that I actually had an interest in teaching.

You mention Ph.Ds, but are Ed.D's acceptable as well? There are many such programs to be found, and even though they are technically both Doctorates, Ed.D's, even from the same school, tend to be much cheaper than PhD's (if for no other reason than the difference in prestige associated with the name on the degree, although some Ed.D programs do have less requirements in the way of study, and, ergo, in the way of cost).

If you like, I can try to compile a list of good Ed.D programs as well, let me know!

Almost all RA PhDs in education are going to be extraordinarily expensive.

    Ted:

Does it appear to you that Aspen University is the cheapest (non-residency) distance Ed.D. available? $18,000 is not bad at all!

Anyone have any experience with this program?

    Just a miner correction. CCU's new EdD programs are $290/unit X 62 credit hours = $17,980. http://www.calcoast.edu/CCU/index.cfm/tuition/

    Thanks,

Aspen appears to be running a special on its Ed.D. program at the moment - along with the $3,600 "blue light" MBA and M.Ed. specials which end July 31.

    Basic cost is 11,600.

$3,600 (4 courses - prepaid at the regular 900 each)
$6,000 (12 courses - at reduced rate of $500 each)
    $2,000 (Dissertation)

Can't see a "real" (DETC) doctorate of any kind going for less than this... :)
