I'm looking to bypass or accelerate through the following Excelsior courses. Are their exams that will satisfy these: OO Programming Database Mgmt Sys Business Data Comm Software Sys and Design.
I know there are no CLEP, DSST, or ECE exams that cover any of those topics... ..I know Athabasca U allows to challenge for credit if you can prove to the Professor that you have prior experience/knowledge in the field - if permitted you merely taken an exam and you're done.. perhaps that is an option at Excelsior?
The Graduate Record Exams in specific subjects such as Computer Science. Alternatively, as BlueMason points out you could take challenge exams at Athabasca University for the appropriate courses if you have the background and can convince the professor. Athabasca University is a RA by Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges.
The Challenge Exams at Athabasca University are the same exams writen by students who take the actual course. Therefore, the transcript will likely look the same as had you taken the actual course rather than the Challenge Exam. Since AU is regionally accredited in the US the courses should transfer but as always the receiving school determines which courses transfer in. TESC has approved me transferring in three courses.
I asked about the same question to my advisor for three of the requirements. This was her reply: Others on the forum have posted that the ICCP exams are a little older and outdated and very tough. Passing rate requires a 70%. This is from the instantcert forum regarding the exams: http://www.instantcertonline.com/forums/general-education-discussion/1992-excelsior-management-information-systems-degree.html?highlight=iccp
IAAP exam Good Morning, I am unsure if this would help but may be worth the search. www.iaap-hq.org. There is a certification in the business para-professional site that TESC accepts through testing. I know there are some CC that also allow end of semester testing for credits. Hope this helps. Hille
