we dont have much time now..something like 1 week.....

what day in august will they end this practice?

  2. I think she told me over the phone on the 1st. you have to fax or mail in a written request telling them you want some credits deleted. They did it for me and I went from a 3.23 to a 3.89, so that is cool. but you really need to hurry up if you are going to do it.

i wonder if other places do it ...

I heard St LEOs forgive bad gpa's from past schools yet you still have to excel in their coursework which is no problem.....

i have to give excelsior college a call...

    thanks

I can't figure out how they are going to implement this new rule. Are they going to transfer all grades, including D's and F's from all transcripts received and use that gpa? Will they allow students to pick and choose which courses they are transferring in at the time a transcript is received? Or will the policy about deleting grades only apply to Excelsior exams and courses?

My experience at other schools is that the transfer gpa does not count toward the cumulative gpa at that school. The cum gpa is based soley on credits earned at that institution. Excelsior's policy has always been the opposite, dating back to the time where they offered no coursework of their own. Depending on how they implement this policy, they could end up with a far more stringent gpa policy than more traditonal institutions.

    i called them today ...

since i am not registered with excelsior but have taken CLEPS and DANTEs, the school told me they will take the best score from the exams taken ...

They will not take in duplicate scores ....

I believe it only applies only to the excelsior exams ...

    GPA Policy @ FSU

I'm starting to think the GPA policy at FSU was really strict after reading through this thread. At FSU, grades earned at other institutions could only be used to bring your GPA down! In other words, a student's GPA is the lower of their FSU GPA or their overall GPA.

    Graduation gift

Got a final bill from Excelsior and it had a "Graduation gift for College" fee   on top of a graduation fee.

At first I thought it was a "gift for student" and was just going to pay the total, but oh, no, they are the ones mooching the gift. I didn't pay it. How cheesy.

  9. WOW! I had the same thing happen to me, I went as far as filling it all out and putting it in my mailbox before it really hit me. I snatched that thing out of my mailbox and tore it up and paid the money I owed minus the $30 or whatever it was online, I was a little upset to see that, but when my diploma came in the mail I would have gladly paid the extra money I was so happy. It looked really classy, i think I was expecting a little more cheesy and a lot more purple and orange.

Hey, bigjim, were you able to crank your gpa up to 3.89 like you were going to? You should've gone to 3.9, where sumna cum starts, which is what I got with no problems. Apparently they aren't letting people in on the scam as easy anymore.

I took some quick cleps, ECEs, and erased B's from the record. Kinda sucks to have crap like Gerontofilia or what not on the transcript instead of some meaningful subjects, but hey, can't get "highest honors" quicker and cheaper anywhere else, probably.

  11. Yeah, they bumped me up to the 3.89 high honors, which is great but I wish they could have bumped it up or rounded to 3.9 but then again my GPA or the fact that I got high honors is nowhere to be found on my transcript, so after all that hustle it was all only for a little gold sticker on my diploma. Now when my finish my Bachelors in a few months I don't think I will be so lucky I got a few too many B's last term so I think my GPA right now is sitting somewhere around 3.4 and I am in a stats class right now and if I get a C in that class I will be lucky. I will just be happy as long as I stay above a 3.0.
