University of Phoenix also ACBSP?

Many engineers are going for taxation law graduate degrees as they can make fortunes as tax consultants for technology companies.

 

Still no mention

of ACBSP on Phoenix's website:

Is University of Phoenix accredited by AACSB?
No. Since the missions of University of Phoenix and AACSB differ, the University has never sought accreditation from AACSB. University of Phoenix, however, is a member of AACSB and in that capacity shares in the exchange of ideas about creating quality business programs.

 

From recent memory, I don't recall an internal announcement that ACBSP was achieved. I'm sure the announcement will come though.

I got an e-mail yesterday that announced it.

As long as AACSB uses traditional universities as their paradigm for accreditation, schools focused on teaching, especially those focused on teaching by working professionals, will always be excluded.

For employment purposes, AACSB accreditation is irrelevant. However, because there is a strong correlation between B-school rankings and AACSB accreditation, it is a strong indicator of the prestige of the degree.

I was not aware of the Universite de Laval MBA. I have had a look at their site and I gather that 3 or 4 of the concentrations are offered online. Do you know for a fact if they are offered in English? It seems to be implied but unless I missed it I could not see for sure.

It seems that some courses are offered in English, there is a trend in French Universities to offer English MBA programs. The best is to contact them and ask them what courses are in English and if all will be offered in English. You might also be able to transfer credits from other schools. University of Ottawa has some online courses for their MBA so you might take some here and there to get your MBA.

 

The email just arrived in my inbox. The Associates, Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degrees are included in the ACBSP accreditation. Interesting.
