... but still excited about it, so is it OK if I talk about it here?

Really? Yay - then you're a nerd at heart like me.

I got accepted to the Ph.D. in Higher Education at the Curry School at UVa. Take a peek at http://72.14.209.104/search?q=cache:UEuGJC0J_IYJ:chronicle.com/weekly/v51/i45/45a01901.htm+Brian+Pusser&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us
Brian Pusser will be my graduate advisor and I was offered a research assistantship with Sarah Turner. Although initially it was because I started to learn alot about for-profits while working at eLearners, my interests in higher education jump wildly - accreditation, affordability, the nontraditional student - in general, I just feel that I can make a bigger impact if I earned a degree and was able to do some meaningful research and maybe be able to change policy ... that sounded sooooo Pollyanna-ish.

Just so that everyone knows, Helen is running the show over at eLearners

    http://community.elearners.com/forums/default.aspx

It's a great distance learning site that has LOTS of valuable information for people starting out in the distance learning field.

Helen - When are you going to sleep? (That's just me being envious)

I think there's a lot of that around here. ;)

Congratulations! That's really great news! So, if you have an assistantship, should we infer that eLearners will have an open position in the fall?

So what do you plan to do with your PhD once you have it -- head up to the D.C. area and be a policy analyst for one of the think tanks up here?

True ... why else would we all be here. :)

I will never be too far away from eLearners -- I have them to thank for fostering my interests in postsecondary education -- however, you're right: the math doesn't definitely doesn't add up between going to school and working full time. Trying to work all that out now.

And actually, yes, Steve - you hit the nail on the head! Or maybe for a firm like Eduventures, or some advocacy group ... or I could work for you someday!

I wouldn't say I'm running the show -- that couldn't be farther from the truth actually. If that were the case, things would look very different there!

Anyway, as far as the eLearners Community goes, I am totally reliant on the assistance of people like y'all who are kind enough to hang around in the forums and help out people who have questions. ;)

Thanks everyone for all the support!
