Greetings oh wonderful board: After just watching the PBS series "The Civil War" I got to thinking(which in my case can be dangerous). Can anyone rec. a good DL program in History that is 100% on line. I am a highschool counselor in an emotionally, behaviorally disordered classroom and would love to branch out a little and use my interest in history in my daily interaction and tx. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and information. Tim(thesage43)
I believe that many Liberal Arts degrees can have quite a few electives in history. But if this helps your decision, I have a BS in Criminal Justice, to which most everyone asks "why criminal justice?" (meaning the degree has little utility) and I always reply "hey, at least its not like it's history or something". Of course that is an ignorant conversation all around, but a BLA is probably a little more understandable for an undergrad since you can slide into most graduate programs with one.
Hi Tim, As well as a bachelors in History there are other programmes that might appeal, given your background. For example this Masters in History Education. It's designed for teachers and those working in a educational setting. All the best, Brendan
Check out American Public University. They have both undergrad and graduate history degrees that meet your requirements.
I guess you are referring to the Ken Burns series. I'm watching it right now and it really is astounding.
University of London offer a BA in History http://www.londonexternal.ac.uk/prospective_students/undergraduate/holloway/history/index.shtml COSC allows a concentration in history http://www.charteroak.edu/Prospective/Programs/Concentrations/History.cfm If you already hold a degree you might consider the CSUDH Master in Humanities which can include a history courses and history based thesis.
You have to look at American Military University -- undergrad and grad degrees in the Civil War. And, they're inexpensive and RA...
True point. It is like the people who say BAs are a dime a dozen or that everybody and his dog has one.
