    IACBE Accreditation

A lot of people are talking about ABS. The IACBE first accredited Alliance Business Academy (ABA) which is different from ABS. These two were founded by the same Angur family. The IACBE has a prerequisite that an institution should be accredited by the local body before seeking their accreditation. ABA of course is recognized by the AICTE. ABS however isn't. How did IACBE manage to accredit an institution which is not even recognised on national grounds? This shows the credibility of IACBE. How could they overlook the obvious? Let us assume that they were a little flexible on this matter, still doesn't explain how ABS could get accredited. The 2010 placements are horrible. Just around 180 students placed in a class of 360. They are stupid enough to post this information in the school's intranet. But they have the audacity of lying to wallstreet India that placements would be over by the end of FEB. It is April now, and like I said, just 180. This seriously reflects the bad state that the institution is in right now. And IACBE wants to continue to tolerate this? They are earning a bad name for themselves by being associated with such an institution anyway. This is in the context of India. I don't know how thay handle b-schools elsewhere. Ultimately I think these accrediting bodies are just out there to make some good business. To what extent can they monitor everything? They are not the CIA. Best bet, talk to current students. If they speak highly of an institution, then you can get in with just a little bit of research. But if the most important stakeholders are talking trash, you should probably stay away. Faculty are also equally important. You need to find out how current they are in their fields so that you can be assured of an excellent learning environment.

IACBE's application to CHEA is due in June. The visit by the Board of Governors will occur in August/September and the decision about CHEA recognition will occur at the IACBE Board meeting in January 2011.

Are you asking the me from now, or the me from 1-31-2007.

What is a mod doing arguing with a three year old thread?

A separate business school which is an AACSB requirement, which prevents some schools from even applying. AMBA and IACBE do not have this requirement.
