Does any one have any experience at all with warnborough College in Ireland www.warnborough.ie? A friend of mine emailed me and recommended I contact this college about their distance learning PhD's. I reviewed the site and since I have no idea how to determine if a foreign institution is accredited or not, most of the information on the site didn't mean too much.

Is anyone familiar with the Irish Educational System?

The good thing is that it appears a student can begin the research PhD (as many of you have stated) at the beginning of every month. Another good thing is that it seems that the research PhD may be completed in two years, depending on how much work the student puts in.

Your take on this would be appreciated - thanks!

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember controversy regarding the legitimacy of Warnborough dating some years back. I do know that Warnborough has been a topic of discussion since long before DI, when AED was the popular virtual destination for distance education information.

Warnborough has often been mentioned here: it is not recognised by the Irish government as a university, was once in England and got in some interesting legal trouble for representing itself as being part of Oxford University when it was not.

    It is best avoided.

I've read posts regarding Warnborough University. Is it the same institution? I did a search and found two Warnboroughs. Confused.

I guess I was mistaken then. This is a good indication of why a group such as this is very important. I thought this was a different Warnborough - aw shucks! I saw the FAFSA School Code and was nearly sold.

They appear to be the same entity...the Ireland school and the UK school have the same text on their websites wrt to their histories.

According to the ODA (Oregon's office of Degree Authorization):

Warnborough University - Republic of Ireland, also Great Britain Also Warnborough College.

"Warnborough University is not a recognized institution in Ireland" - National Qualifications Authority of Ireland "Not a UK degree-granter. Appearance on UK registry of training providers does not confer or represent authorization to issue degrees" - British Higher Education Governance office.
