ah, i'm so happy to have found this amazing board. so maybe someone here is able to help me with my little mission.

i'm currently studying in germany business administration and are around half way through. i thought it would be cool to put some first class university names on my cv so i began looking around for certificates or courses, which i could credited by my german university. but of cause most of them are absolutley over the top in case of their credit fee (at least for euoropeans). i'd be willing to invest around $1500 for this "mission".

So far the cheapest offer I found on any of the Top20 Universities ... is Stanford!
They offer a "Stanford Computer Security Certificate" for as little as $399. http://scpd.stanford.edu/scpd/courses/ProEd/compSec/ ( in comparison their project management or strategic risk management courses are around $7000) Well, the problem is, I'm not the uber-nerd and don't see my future in the comuter security sector, but anyhow it would sound quite impressive and with a littlebit of luck i could probably get my university to accept it as a course. They demand the examination regulations / conditions of study, but if they don't digg deep enough they might give their ok. So are there any similar courses/certificates one of you took or thought about taking at one of the "Big Names"?

Rutgers offers certificates that evaluate skills you already have- and they're relatively inexpensive.

Can you give me a link for the same. Is it online or onsite?

hmm the cornell thing isn't that bad. but $2000 for some 2 credits and this certificate... but still it is an alternative!
Rutgers... really cool idea. thank you! they are no60 on the us news report... but it will be really hard to sell this to my university and get credits hehe
    any additional ideas?

    Good news and bad news.

Good: you get a certificate from a fairly well known institution.
Bad: Things like not knowing how you did on a given test until you pay for the results. This irritated me a bit, but it still looks like an interesting program. It would have been nice, though, if they spelled out the costs up front (e.g. X program requires 8 tests, therefore you will need to spend $400 to complete it).
