congrats!! I have an Alex's as well, and he sees the work going into my schooling and it has helped him stay focused (he's dyslexic). The effects of your Alex seeing you take school so seriously, will have a positive effect!

    Again, congrats!!!

Hi David. I hope you are right. My Alex has ADHD, quite a severe case. When he is on meds he is so focused and does great in school. But once the meds are in his system, the side effects are intolerable. So we stop or try a new med and then it is back to doing poorly in school. He tries and I am constantly showing him how to organize and prioritize his time, but it is hard.

    Thanks again.

This is going to sound hokie, but it works.

    1) Get a clipboard
    2) Print a things to do list for Alex
    3) Let him control that list...somethings are non-negotiable
    4) Small tasks not big one
    ---- Not "Clean Room"
---- Put "Pick clothes" "Put away Toys" "Pick up Pens & Paper"
    5) review it periodically.

On the ADHD side of things of things from a meds perspective: There are some dietary opportunities that may help. Take a look at some of the research...I am not as familiar, but my wife was a school teacher and she has encountered it. Regulating body chemistry is the theory.

Anyway, hope some of this helps. This is part of getting a degree! When you go to school, so does the entire family.

    Thanks and again --- Congrats!

My seven year old daughter is ADHD pretty badly. We've had the same issues with medication of effectiveness vs. appetite (she's tall and a beanpole as it is so she doesn't have any spare weight to lose). No words of wisdom, I suppose, just letting you know I'm there too. :)
