    Re: Missing the point

It has certainly attracted a lot of publicity for Lakehead.

I assume that was their intention all along. It is an 'attention getter', akin to the viral marketing videos we see increasingly nowadays.

Someone sees the web site, and is either amused or outraged by it. In either case, they are very likely to tell someone else about it. Those people will also be either amused or outraged and, in turn, will tell someone else. Before you know it, the web site has received a couple of million hits, and the school is being talked about on national, and perhaps even international, television.

How much does that kind of publicity cost? It's priceless!

How beneficial will it be to Lakehead's bottom line? It remains to be seen.

No matter what you think about the actual content of the 'advertising', I think it is achieving its goal.

International -- the BBC did an article on it (although that was online, not television).

To the extent that there is no bad publicity, well, then I suppose "mission accomplished". ;)

Just in case you did not know, Kerry also has the same GPA from Yale.

In 1999, The New Yorker published a transcript indicating that Bush had received a cumulative score of 77 for his first three years at Yale and a roughly similar average under a non-numerical rating system during his senior year.

Kerry authorizes release of his full military and medical records. A7.

Kerry, who graduated two years before Bush, got a cumulative 76 for his four years, according to a transcript that Kerry sent to the Navy when he was applying for officer training school. He received four D's in his freshman year out of 10 courses, but improved his average in later years.

Lakehead conferred an honorary doctorate to Neil Young way back in '92.

As per Bush vs. Kerry, as I explain to drifting young' uns today, you can get past your undergrad GPA. America's a place where oats are sown between 18-22 years old. As undergrads, Dubya was a cheerleader and Kerry was taking flying lessons.

But it's now clear Kerry's grades were much better than Dubya's in the harshest classroom, that of wartime leadership.

Never mind the Swift Boat crew reports and his questionable heroic prowress, his constant flip-flopping. and that obnoxious Teresa Diva.... :D

    Blackbird,

The men who served directly under Lt. Kerry in combat came forward, after 30 years, and again stood by his side during his campaign. This speaks volumes about the quality of his wartime leadership. Their testimony, borne of battle, is of infinite more value than the lies of a few politically-motivated men connected to Dubya, the decidedly misnamed Swiftboat Veterans for Truth.

We're still waiting for a similar testimonial for Dubya's wartime leadership from, well, anyone. Even conservatives are abandoning Dubya's ship.

Who will be in Dubya's band of brothers in 30 years? Will it be you?

My friend Daniel, I respect your views. I keep up with the news from many sources. I am not aware of anyone leaving the President's fold unless you are talking about his softer views of immigration and not being sufficiently austere in the war on terrorism. His party is not in the disarray and in control of entertaining fruities such as Howard Dean and the more somber but Vader-like George Soros. Kerry's side is about surrendering and making us the laughing stock of terrrorists. Dems worry too much about being popular.

In reality, I vote for Jack Bauer for president. He's my kind of guy. :D

This discussion should probably go to the "Politics" forum. Sorry guys.

    Blackbird,

You should expand your list of sources:

I must agree with your comments Daniel. Say what you want, but while Kerry was earning his medals, Bush Junior was busy getting drunk and snorting Coke. I find it curious to this day, nobody seems to be able to account for Baby Bush's military service.

    Tell me another story!

    Abner :)

P.s. I would like to add 20/20 went over to Vietnam, and found certain swift boat vet's for truth were trying to pay off certain vietnamese to lie about Kerry! What a bunch of traitors! It backfired on them, and instead Kerry's facts were corroborated.

Heck, if Bush Jr. did do something worthy in the military, I would love to hear it.

How do you know 20/20 did not do the same a la Dan Blather? :D

Could you give us a link to that program? I never heard of it.
