Hi all...I've searched and not been able to come across anything definitive... Does anyone have any experience with Florida Institute of Technology, specifically their online Masters' programs? I'm considering their MS in Logistics Management via the virtual campus. Thanks!
I don't have direct experience with the school but it's considered very good in Florida and supplies a lot of the workers on the Space Coast.
I earned my MS in Operations Research from Florida Tech in 2000. I only took two courses via DL and I had the same professor (Dr. Clary) for both courses; however, the DL courses I took date back to 1999 so I’m not sure how relevant my information would be. But, my experience with Florida Tech was outstanding. If you have any specific questions, please ask and I’ll do my best to answer them. The link for their DL programs is below. http://uc.fit.edu/dl/academics/degrees/index.html
Thanks for the info...I submitted my application online since for Virtual Campus they don't charge a fee. We'll see where it heads, sounds like a good possibility.
I registered in early August for MGT 5132, prerequisite for my MSPM degree. The course just became available in Blackboard today for the 28th. I asked the professor a question today and got a response back early this evening even though class doesn’t start for another week. I’m hoping the communication stays at that level! I’ve had exceptional response from the DL administrative person Vicky Knerly (thanks Beachhoppr). She has answered all of my questions, there were many, quickly and accurately. I’m not officially accepted as of yet but FLTECH has allowed me to register and complete this semester pending their decision. Good luck on your journey -John
I received an e-mail today from Vicky Knerly. She really seems like she has an excellent handle on this program. I hope that continues throughout my experience here. I think I just might do this, and I don't know whether I'm just plain stupid or a masochist having just gotten done my BS in May...LOL
I completed a FIT bricks and mortar Masters of Science in Management with a concentration in Logistics Management in 1999. FIT is a great school, with plenty of rigor. Some Army Logistics General Officers have an FIT Masters in Logistics, the school also has an affiliation with the Army Logistics school at Ft. Lee. (What I am trying to say is that the school has credibility in the government logistics field).
The Ft. Lee campus is also where I earned my MS in 2000. I was able to transfer 12 credits into the program from ALMC so I was able to complete the degree in one year and one semester (taking two courses per semester). FIT has additional B&M sites in the following places. ALABAMA Redstone Arsenal FLORIDA Melbourne Orlando Spaceport, Kennedy Space Center/Patrick Air Force Base MARYLAND Aberdeen Proving Ground Patuxent River NEW JERSEY Picatinny/Lakehurst VIRGINIA Alexandria Fort Lee Hampton Roads area http://uc.fit.edu/es/index.html
You could do the entire degree in logistics management through the Aberdeen campus. http://uc.fit.edu/es/aberdeen/programs.html
Thanks...Aberdeen's actually over an hour or more, so the online way is definitely preferred, but if needed I could take something there.
Considering you live an hour away from Aberdeen, I think online is the way to go. I did my degree at the Ft. Lee campus. I was stationed at Ft. Lee at the time and lived on post so my total commute time was about five minutes.
